WASHINGTON — As the Senate prepares to begin debating new gun control measures, some of President Barack Obama's fellow Democrats are poised to frustrate his efforts to enact the most sweeping limits on weapons in decades.

These Democrats from largely rural states with strong gun cultures view Obama's proposals warily and have not committed to supporting them. The lawmakers' concerns could stand in the way of strong legislation before a single Republican gets a chance to vote "no."

"There's a core group of Democratic senators, most but not all from the West, who represent states with a higher-than-average rate of gun ownership but an equally strong desire to feel their kids are safe," said Mark Glaze, director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. "They're having hard but good conversations with people back home to identify the middle-ground solutions that respect the Second Amendment but make it harder for dangerous people to get their hands on guns."

All eyes are on a core group of these Democrats, including Sens. Max Baucus of Montana, Mark Begich of Alaska and Mark Pryor of Arkansas, who are up for re-election in 2014.

Elections have a funny way of clearing some politicians heads temporarily.

I've said this since the beginning, it was never about safety, rather control. Originally they thought they could get a ban through, but quickly realized they had a bigger opposition than expected.
However, this move has backfired on Husein, he will, in the end look the fool for pushing it.

Reason being, Feinstein created a list of weapons to be banned, no sane member could get behind, all by design, to run block for Hillarys dismal performance on the Hill, not that they knew it would be as damaging as it was, regardless how the media paints it, but they needed a contingency plan if she did, and she did, so they were covered by Feinstein, the good little commie and her over reaching Bill.

Remember, they never let a good crisis go to waste, and they knew a killing like Sandyhook would be good cover for at least 3 months, and in the interim they had cartblanche for all their misdeeds.

Now all of this nonsense is turning the public against them, even the communists hailed them as heroes of Dremocracy.
With endorsements like that, you know you've crossed the line.

Now Husein gave the Pubs a gift, but sadly they've proven time and time again, they forgot what it means to be in the driver seat, and will let this opportunity pass them by.

As I have stated before, the dems will have a difficult time retaining the 55-45 majority in the Senate in 2014. Twenty of the thirty-three seats up for reelection are dems. Tom Harkin just announced he will not run. That makes gains in WV and IA very possible. Just for debate, if it gets real close what is the possibility of Joe Manchin (WV) swirching to the GOP?

This could in theory rip apart the Democrats as the tax fight we just had ripped apart the Republicans. Obama's political career is over in four years and he has run his last election. He has nothing to lose but the Dems up for reelection in 2014 do. And Obama doesn't care. If they don't support his agenda he will ram it down their throats.

Well the RINOS probably would  stick to their guns because they are spineless and this time they would not be on center stage.

I wonder if we have a shot at purging their power structure come 2014, if it's possible to actually get a majority of Conservatives in, and even unseat Boner?
Unless we get them out, we probably don't stand a chance in 2016, because they'll just put up another RINO.

But I digress, this thread is more about the position the Dims have put themselves in, it's a lose lose proposition confiscating guns.

I don't see a democrat becoming a RINO will help.   Other then to get him re-elected.

That reminds me, we had the Dims in the same place the Pubs are in today, yet they came back.

I'm hoping that Obama and his appointed puppets step so far over the line that it causes a liberal backlash and implosion of the democrat party.

Eventually they will hit the right button and freak the libs out. It won't be gun control, but if they start screwing around with controlling the internet, they'll be playing with fire.

Nobody in the Obamnao regime cares about gun control...this is a distraction for the Budget and debt limit.

Not only don't care, as I said before, they are scared to death of it, every lib that votes for it is subject to a shit pot of trouble from their constituents, the NRA as well as dozens of other pro gun groups, signing this is tantamount to suicide.

Yet the media focuses on it as if it has a chance and the right cringes like fools, instead of daring them, taunting them to sign it and show just what players the left is.
If it were me in charge of the GOP, I'd taunt the Hell out of the left, challenge them to sign it, expose them for the frauds they really are.
