The TSA reported on WEBPRONEWS.COM this week that they confiscated 54 loaded guns during airport searches.  This is insame, what is the heck are people thinking.  It can't be that hard.  We are seeing attackes all over the world and here where we are relatively safe 54 idiots try to get loaded guns thru security.  How stupid are we.

Okay. Step back and take a deep breath.

Now, consider the number of people who have gone through airport screenings in the last week. That number must be in the hundreds of thousands. And out of all of those screenings only 54 found guns.

It is what is known as a statistically insignificant number.

I've gotten on airplanes with potentially much more deadly weapons than firearms.

There are a lot of people carrying firearms LEGALLY. Mistakes do happen. It's a minute number. The problem is the way "low level" government employees react to simple mistakes.

True but my point was do I tell the cop that I didn't know I could drive any speed I want to on the highway.  People are not thinking.  it was pointed out that TSA employees do not have to be high school graducates to get a job.  I remember a time when I didn't have to think about it.

Evidently these 54 travelers couldn't read either.

Try boarding a plane in Israel with a gun and see what you get.

Where did all these confiscations take place at? I can understand in states with Concealed Carry, where people are used to carrying, where they arm themselves before they leave the house; their weapon may cause them no more thought than putting on their shoes.

My thoughts exactly, I have had my weapon on me more then once where I shouldn't have, just forgot. Would like to know were these confiscations took place and if they were real not a pop-tart?

Well in their defense one can understand how they might react that way, after all the TSA agent without warrant, or even probable cause sticks their hands down your pants and instead of finding what they expect to find, they find a gun! Yeah I can see how that might freak them out a little bit. ;)
One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)
