Cuomo's StartUp NY Program Creates a Whopping 76 Jobs, Costs Taxpayers $53 Million

Cortney O'Brien

Governor Andrew Cuomo was all too proud to unveil his StartUp NY program in the Empire State. They called it a 'game changer.' The ingenious program offered tax-free environments to tech and manufacturing companies for 10 years if they worked with state colleges and universities. It was supposed to boost entrepreneuralism and create thousands of jobs throughout the state. Yet, one year later, the most New Yorkers have to show for it is emptier pockets.

The ubiquitous Start-Up NY promotional campaign has cost taxpayers $53 million since the program's inception in late 2013, while it has led to $1.7 million in private investment so far, state records show.

The state spent $47 million on the ads alone since the program started in December 2013, and the total cost included production expenses and other marketing efforts through last month, according to Empire State Development Corp. In July, the agency said $28 million had been spent on the ads.

I believe Cuomo has found a new way to waste tax dollars and the fool is probably quite proud of what he has accomplished. Liberals get nuttier every day!

I can't imagine living in NY!

I have traveled throughout the State.

This deep south lady found that going north of the mason dixon line is a bit like traveling abroad!  Interesting to look at but .....

I was stationed there when I was in the Navy, but that was back in 1959-1961. A lot has changed since then, and not for the better.

What liberals do not realize is that corporations and businesses are not like their loony supporters. They know there is no such thing as a free lunch and do not fall for lib gimmicks. When I saw this I immediately noticed the no taxes for 10 years. It was an instant notification it was a trap.

This is just another load of crap designed to dupe those that are ill-informed and too unwilling to wait on the facts to surface.  Why spend all this money to create a program that won't provide jobs anyway unless they are for ..........Most of us know that all the jobs being created are for the idiots coming into our country.  Want to know where ANY money is and not been accounted for?  Look no further than the local politician or on up to the WH.

Sorry folks, I'm po'd again.  I just found out that our Gov. (N. Haley) just signed off in favor of the World Relief Org. allowing intern'l refugees into our cities to partake of anything this state has to get them started.  That's to go along with the masses coming here for citizenship from several other countries.
