How John Kasich Could Very Easily End Up As The GOP Nominee

by John Hawkins

If Donald J. Trump does not win the nomination outright or on the first ballot at the Republican Convention, it's highly unlikely that he'll be the nominee.

That wasn't always so. At one point, the expectation that Trump would run third party or would undercut the nominee and take his supporters with him to guarantee a victory by Hillary Clinton might have been enough to sway delegates his way after the first ballot.

However, after the Heidi Cruz disaster, the Michelle Fields mess, the National Enquirer story he was blamed for, his abortion comments and the level of outright hatred that Trump has inspired even among millions of Republicans, it's extremely unlikely that Donald Trump could win a general election. So, the reasoning of delegates who aren't committed to a candidate is likely to go something like this, "Whether we choose Trump or someone else, we lose in the general election. If we don't have Trump as our nominee, we're likely to lose less seats down ticket and the whole Party won't have to go through the humiliation of having to defend whatever crazy things he says or does as he represents our Party."

So, is that good news for Ted Cruz?

Sort of.

http://rightwingnews.com/john-hawkins/john-kasich-easily-end-gop-nominee/

it is possible that this scenario might happen, but is it probable?

QuotePS #1: Yes, Rule 40 would currently prevent Kasich from being the nominee. However, these sort of rules are commonly changed to benefit establishment candidates. That's how Rule 40 came into being in the first place. So, the most likely outcome is that it will be changed or weakened this time as well.

And it's mine, so don't use it unless ya pay me royalties!

Just kidding. I don't' even know what all this hashtag crap means. LOL

But anyone but Kasich.

If the RNC party does that, I'm either writing in Cruz, or voting for the liberal who's up front about being a liberal.

Further if the RNC does that.  I would suggest it's time for a new party for conservatives.

Because the track record of Kasich, simply put is that of a liberal.

Yes when he was in the Congress he did work on balancing the national budget. (But his balanced budget was really just robbing peter to pay paul. Not truly a "balanced budget".

And while Governor here in Ohio, on every social issue facing our nation today, from abortion, to police misconduct to governing within the boundaries as set down in the Constitution of the United States.

Kasich is simply not a conservative. His actions are that of a liberal.

End of story.

FWIW you might as well have called this thread, how the GOP will lose the election for the Presidency yet again, too.

Because that's what the end result will be, should the RNC do this at the convention.

Today Kasich opened up a full assault on Cruz over the government shutdown, saying something to the effect of; if Cruz doesnt get his way, he will do something stupid such as shutting down the government.

What a loon! Does he believe that Cruz has to absolute power to shut the government down? If this dumb ass gets the nomination, I'll write in Cruz, if Colorado allows that. Otherwise it the Constitutional Conservative party candidate.

Personally I believe the time has come for the GOP to fold their circus tent and ride off into the sunset. What ever conservatives are left in the GOP rally can then around Cruz and form an independent conservative party. Taking back this country from the socialist democrats and the liberal GOP. It may take a generation or more, but the country is worth the effort.

I'm not worried.  Cruz will get Rubio's delegates, and get a boost from the odd GOP rules in CO and PA.  He'll take CA and run the rack on the other states, like WI.

Everyone needs to understand, just because Trump has X number of delegates doesn't mean that's that.  There are funny rules and every state is different, and Trump just doesn't have the staff and intel to manage all of that.  It isn't cut and dry, and even though Trump has a delegate count, those aren't set in stone.

Regarding Kasich, he's so stupid, he doesn't seem to understand he won't even qualify to be at the convention.  I think you need to have won 8 or more states.  Only Trump and Cruz qualify to be there at this point.

What is this fear of shutting down the government? It is the responsibility of the congress to fund the government. The GOP now controls both houses of congress and can pass a budget. The 60 vote issue does not apply in the senate to budgetary matters. Therefore, a budget should be passed and if Obama vetoes it - HE SHUTS DOWN THE GOVERNMENT. Cruz was just doing what McConnell and GOPe should be doing.

True, but that's only IF the rules committee (made up of I believe) 2 delegates from each state, don't eliminate of modify that rule.  The rule was modified from 5 states to 8 at the last convention by the Romney camp muscling into the process to block Ron Paul from having a bigger presence at the convention....IMHO

Given the attention that garnered last convention and the fact the everyone is hyper aware of the rule and the rules committee in general this convention, I don't see how they can monkey around with it too much without a full scale revolt...

The last time we heard this scaremongering about "shutting down the government"
Jay Leno asked the audience, "Who's worried that the government might shut down?"
There was a smattering of applause.
Then he asked, "Who's worried that the government might start up again?"
Wildly enthusiastic cheering!

Since Trump has his nickname for Cruz - Lyin' Ted, Kasich had to come up with his nickname for Cruz - its Senator Smear.

Kasich is now claiming that Cruz is running a smear campaign. Yesterday Kasich said...

Quote"[Cruz] smeared Ben Carson, he smeared Marco Rubio, he smeared Donald, and now he's smearing me; even the Wall Street Journal pointed out he smeared me in an editorial last week."

It just won't happen.  Cruz has just too much support, from the ground on up, at this point.  Ron Paul had support, but those people don't vote.  Cruz supporters vote.
