Easier to have the amount already totaled, for a weekly or monthly report. Efficiency and exposure-by-ridicule are American values, don'tcha know.
When the next Congress kills Oh-no-care, will this place be allowed to keep that money? I'd pay 13 cents to mock Obama...wouldn't you?

I like the idea. It needs to be publicized so even the LIV's can see it. This is free speech and it is being honest with the patrons. Do not be surprised if the administration does not try to silence this type action moving forward.

all the taxes I am paying. When it is out of sight and out of mind. They can just keep adding tax as they like.
When was the last time you check the sales tax on something you got to see if it was right. Taxes are embedded in the price of everything we buy, list I check there were 151 embedded taxes on a loaf of bread. Most people in my state don't know what there sales taxes are, as there not the same from city to city. You have state and local sales taxes all in one. When was the last time you look at a hotel bill? I my state it is called a special hotel/motel tax.
One of the most attractive features (to Democrats) of income tax withholding (back in the 1940s) was the very fact that it helped to hide and/or soften the blow of the federal tax bite. In the words of The History of the U.S. Tax System, put out by the U.S. Treasury Department, "This greatly eased the collection of the tax for both the taxpayer and the Bureau of Internal Revenue. However, it also greatly reduced the taxpayer's awareness of the amount of tax being collected, i.e. it reduced the transparency of the tax, which made it easier to raise taxes in the future." In fact, Democrats in Congress liked the idea so much they actually "forgave" an entire year's income tax to get it passed. I'm sure we can all recall mouth-breathing LIVs in our lives bragging on how much they were getting from Uncle Sam after filing their tax returns, never once considering that every penny was money they had earned and sent to DC on free loan over a year's time.
I've long been a fan of the Fair Tax, more for its substance and principle than for its specific proposals. But one feature I really like -- under the Fair Tax, the actual taxes paid on every purchase would be called out clearly on every sales receipt. Something like "FEDERAL TAXES $xx.xx."
