Chicago: 17 officers suspended after 'lounging' during June 1st riots



CHICAGO, IL – Over seven months following what could be referred to as a mini-controversy in Chicago, 17 Chicago Police officers have been suspended following allegations that they were "lounging" inside of Congressman Bobby Rush's office on June 1st, 2020 while riots and looting were taking place throughout the city.


While the optics of the incident aren't exactly flattering to the officers alleged to have been lounging while other CPD officers were facing rioters head-on, the entire debacle hosts a "he said, she said" characteristic.

During that timeframe in June, when the likes of CPD brass and the mayor were preaching their disdain for the officers' actions inside of the office, FOP President John Catanzara claims that those very officers were instructed to guard that specific office.
