by Rush Limbaugh the other day...he said young voters do not read newspapers, watch any news, and only acquire information via their electronic devices and that explains the lack of knowledge of a huge sector of voters.  I know those under 40 in my family and associates could care less about Benghazi, Hillary emails, or Obama failures and they are just as likely to vote for any Democrat or possibly Trump based on their social media sources.  They also do not want to hear information from me (I am retired) and if candidates are mentioned they immediately say I must watch Fox news as if they are programmed to make that comment...than end of discussion.

Also (my input, not Rush) our education institutions are brainwashing our youth and turning them into extreme politically correct individuals which makes them automatically anti conservatism and susceptible to socialized programs.

Your preaching to the choir young man.  There has been much discussion on this very issue in the last 5 years on this board.

They are programmed it is NEA.  I constantly have to fight the brainwashing as a parent.  Challenge my children to do more research on their own.  Last year was brainwashing against Israel.

Another point, asked a high school senior is they do the Pledge Of Allegiance at her school.  She said every school day, I asked her how it went....they leave out "One nation Under God"...no surprise of course and probably also mentioned her before.  They can object and not say it...

Do you challenge the school?  I'd be the school boards' worst nightmare at their school board meetings.

My neighbor and his wife challenges the school board all the time.  He is now a member of that school board and he is their worst "night mare."  There now making sure there grandkids get the best schooling they can get.  Kids come from as faraway as 30 mile just to go to there school.  Teacher drive as faraway as 47 miles just to teach there.

Public educucation does not educate. It imprints a narrative. From K through postgraduate studies, one key ability and skill is purposely left to atrophy.
CRITICAL THINKING!
No one does it anymore. After the "teachers" have done their job, the intellectually handicapped masses are left to the tender mercies of electronic caretakers. Otherwise bright and clever people, because of one key deficiency, sit like chicks in the nest before their TVs, PCs, and whatnot waiting for "mother" to feed them their ration of partially digested info that slides easily and comfortably down their gullets. Preconcieved notions evade scrutiny a bit easier if one isnt knifing, forking, and chewing their food for themselves.

I'm always curious about the term "critical thinking".  I'm not sure it's something that can be taught.  I kind of put it in the category of common sense.

You simplified it. Good job. This is why the DoE should be abolished and let local folks run their school systems.

It has to be coached, like athletic talent, but look what happens when the parents and schools lose all knowledge of the sport.

Dori, when I home schooled I taught my kids critical thinking skills.

I taught them worldviews and how they differ.  Then I had them read newspaper articles, books, and other periodicals.  They had to analyze the content and extrapolate the probable worldview of the author.

You must be able to know where people are coming from with their statements.  They became very adept at doing that.

It's always enhanced when money or livelihood is on the line.  People who don't do aren't capable of critical thinking.  It's a term the libs throw around as if they have the property rights to it, when they are the lowest on the GDP of thought.
