Madison Wisconcin is infamous as being "the birthplace of the Public Sector Union".  Although, nationwide unions only make up about 6% of the workforce, they cause the cost of everything to go up for everyone!  It's no secret that the unions have crawled into bed with the (far left wing) of the Democrat Party.  Every level of goverment is littered with former union members, organizers and lawyers (all Democrat). The Union newletters all read like a copy of Pravda!

I believe this is a very good thing that will make the very Blue State of Wisconcin become as attractive for  industry as the southern right to work states have become.  The right to wrk states have a real edge on the union/Democrat controlled states, when it comes to economic opportunity for more that just a chosen few (union members).

On the other hand, I was a union membe for my entire career.  As a member of a police union in a Blue State, our county always has been ruled by a Democrat controlled Legislature.  Even with Civil Service, without a union, indivdual officers would be subject to intimidation by those who pay their salary.  I can recall numerous examples of this;  Here's a couple..

One of ou black officers made the big mistake of pullinng over the wrong car one night.  The driver turned out to be the Democrat Majority Leader of the County Legislature.  (He was white and he was very drunk).  Even before  the newspaperrs got a hold of it, this guy was in the Sheriff's office demanding to see this officer's personnel file and claiming that the officer pulled him over because he was white!    When our Sheriff said no, he went to the Personell Director (who was appointed by the Legilature and pressure him; who in turn came over and pressured the Sheriff.  Well, we were right in the process of submitting our budget for the following year and you guessed it, quid pro quo began to take shape.  They wanted our officer's head on a platter for any reason the Sheriff could trump up!  Together, with the Sheriff, our union began to shed a little sunshine on 'them' and they crawled back under their rock!

The same thing happened when a Legislator's son was arrested.  It became routine that the officer involved got his union involved and the Political Animals backed the f*** down!

Whenever we had a shooting or anything that had the least potential for bad press or liabilty, without the union, all you have is the Sheriff.  It's the same with Municiple Police Chiefs.  I wonder if Furgeson, Mo. has a police union?  Officer Darrin Wilson has been exonerated, but what happened to him is a good example of what happens to unfortunate officers who answer the wrong call, do their job the way they have been trained and yet, suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune!

Most officers view unions as being a necessary evil. With them, we're frustrated by the corruption and politics, without them we're screwed!

By the way...this is what the Libtards call..."Right to Work"
