I think he'll do pretty good...  like everyone else, he just has to adapt around this new environment Hussein has brought forth...

Halfways seriously, hanging around through a doctorate is a decent plan.  Professor for life.

global studies is tailor-made to get you work, and you're required to study abroad.  (arabic and french are my languages.)  I grew up moving around and want to keep seeing stuff.

there are options other than the military.  I think.  it's workable if you know what you're doing, unlike oh...sociology or philosophy.

(I'd have been OK with something like the State Department until now.  I'm beginning to back away from that option slowly.)

I keep telling kids they need to get some real skill.  Basically, if it is a class where the teacher thinks he/she can spew their Marxist BS, then you aren't really learning anything valuable.

my current professor made us read Hobsbawm last semester (an open Stalinist).  The books on the Russian Revolution and fascism were actually very balanced, informative, and critical of communism...which makes me wonder if he read half of what he assigned us.

I'm not stupid enough to challenge him in lecture, but I did ask him last week if National Socialism was the same thing as socialism.  He gave a very strong no.

and the book he had us read hammers home the point that fascism wasn't too different from socialism.  I don't think he read it.

lol, when they just say no, they know they're lying really badly, and want to lie and leave quickly.

Any gray area / opportunity to flap their gums, is never missed.

Just "NO" and flee....means the answer was an obvious yes.
