Attorney General Duties to Prevent Mis- & Dis-information
Concerning a requirement that the attorney general undertake certain measures in an effort to prevent the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation, and, in connection therewith, making an appropriation.
SESSION: 2024 Regular Session
SUBJECT: State Government
BILL SUMMARY

To prevent and combat the sharing and spreading of misinformation and disinformation, the attorney general is required to:

Establish an initiative to encourage respectful engagement and discourse;
Develop and share a curriculum to facilitate productive and honest conversations regarding statewide and national issues to help people find common ground; and
Collaborate with organizations across the state to develop and update the materials that are used in connection with the curriculum.

The attorney general is also required to study how the internet and other media channels, including social media platforms, are used to share and spread misinformation and disinformation. In addition, the attorney general is required to review relevant state and federal constitutional provisions and federal laws and regulations to address preemption and the intersection of state and federal authority. The attorney general may invite experts to collaborate or consult with the attorney general or to provide other assistance to the attorney general in performing the duties specified in the bill.


The attorney general is required to publish a report of its findings and to submit the report to the judiciary committees of the senate and the house of representatives. The report must include recommendations for state legislation.

I have no doubt the plan here is to delay the inevitable federal court case until after the election. They will censor while they can. It's like the gun laws, they pass what will be shot down as unconstitutional and then rewrite another law which does the same thing. Guess it could be called enforcement between court cases.

The left doesn't care about the law, unless they can destroy it.
Ca is constantly trying to destroy our 2nd, but always loses, this has been the same pattern in blue cities across the US.
I'm guessing it has more to do with the idea of making Americans question their actual Rights, as opposed to exercising them as we used to.

Same goes for speech, they want us believing we have free speech, with a caveat, that certain speech deemed "hate speech" is somehow reprehensible and needs to be quelled at all costs.

As long as this forum exists, we will always use speech the left hates!

And I do believe you just exposed a major part of their strategy. I have never look at it from that point of view but it makes perfect sense. Also explains why they are hell bent on destroying religion.

Libs only read headlines, while Conservatives ask why are you doing this?
In the end, the lib thinks the right is bad and out of touch, and the Right gets painted as extremists because we want to hold onto our God given rights.

That's one of what I call "crooked media tricks."
They publish a misleading headline,
and then several paragraphs down, they admit the actual facts.
They can claim that they published the truth,
but many people read only the lie.
Also, the headline often does not explicitly state the lie.
It only implies it.

Along the same lines, they enact legislation making discrimination illegal,
and then THEY discriminate in enforcing the legislation!
