I have a different take on RINO Powell. He is 75 - Born 1937, He wants to have a legacy and Obama is his best choice. It will give him material for a pro-Obama pro-Liberal tome in which he was bash America to some extent. The Tea Party doesn't want him two cents worth of him. He already dug his grave. Republicans no longer want him as he is far to Polarizing and sympathetic to Obama.

There is a Picture link at the bottom of Powell sitting at Obama's table at a recent WH dinner.

1.) It's my opinion that most of the Brass in the Military would tend to be Republican or Conservative.

2. Republican administrations provide support for the Military. If your a Republican you will get heard quicker than if your a quasi less than gung-ho anti-military Democrat officer.

3. Politics in the Military are not out in front in the Military, but they are very important in the background.

4. As a Republican Powell would have a better opportunity of fast tracking up the ranks than if a Democrat.

5. It should have been obvious from comments Powell made in (See Wikipedia)
Many Democrats admired his moderate stance on military matters, while many Republicans saw him as a great asset associated with the successes of past Republican administrations

6. Powell strongly oppose the appt of John Bolton the only person that has strongly stood up for the US in many years.
As Secretary of State in the Bush administration, Powell was perceived as moderate.

Powell stated that "The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of [America's] fight against terrorism.
A moderate Republican, Powell is well known for his willingness to support liberal or centrist causes
He stated in his autobiography that he supports affirmative action that levels the playing field
he reportedly referred to neoconservatives within the Bush administration as "fucking crazies
I think we need a transformational figure. I think we need a president who is a generational change and that's why I'm supporting Barack Obama,

Nah. The title should be "Colin Powell signs death warrant with any future Republican administration".

That's a fact.  and to think that i would have voted for him before he announced that he would not run for president way back when he was considering it.  Just goes to show that you really can't base your vote entirely on military record.  Half hearted research into the lives of these wanna bes is just dangerous.

The man may at one time had a usefulness, but it has long since gone.  When you put race before intelligence, what you get is RACIST!! :scared: :scared:

IMO you are correct.  Powell is supporting Onothing because he is another black man.  He is indeed the racist.

I think Giles just pointed out a perfectly rational reason. Power.

Interesting point, but why didnt he just run for President when he had a buzz? At least run in the primaries.

LOL...What I remember most about this state dinner was that this was the one that Michaele and Tariq Salahi crashed and embarrassed the WH security.  In fact, I think that White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers is sitting at the next table to the left.  It was her responsibility to screen the guests and she made the scene instead!  She was later fired resigned over this incident.

I think Powell wanted to be the RINO in the spotlight instead of McCain. Bush and the republicans screwed that up for him, when they sent him to the UN and the american people to sell the WMDs in Iraq. It turned out to be true, but it didn't matter, he had become too close to the Bush policies. The democrats would have eaten him alive.

Powell had become the face of Bush's wars. It's looking like he'll never let the republicans forget it.

Based on his behavior, and backing of Obama, he would have made a crappy president anyway.

Billy's bayonet

With Obamao's penchant for faulty intelligence Collin Powell is just the right man to endorse Obamao. Powell pooped the bed on WMD's in Iraq and faulty intel to Bush.
