This explains some of the reasons Libertarians are beginning to lean toward Cruz.

Cruz's pitch: Victory, not compromise - Bloomberg: "In Litchfield [N.H.], [Sen. Ted Cruz] promised conservatives that they could win without 'making the party bigger.' Just as [Sen. Rand Paul] had, he embraced the trappings of the setting; his wife, Heidi, even doffed an 'Armed and Fabulous' baseball cap, provided by one of the gun groups. A man wearing a shirt with the legend 'Molon Labe' (Greek for 'come and take it') stood feet away from a man plastered in dragon tattoos....  They were interested in libertarian principles, and Cruz was offering—unlike Paul—liberty without compromise. 'If you compare 2004, the last race Republicans won, to 2008 and 2012, by far the biggest difference is the millions of conservatives who showed up in 2004, who stayed home in 2008, and stayed home in even bigger numbers,' said Cruz. 'So how do you win? I think the key question is, you figure out how to bring back those millions of voters.'" (Fox News)

I am interested to hear from some in our forum who lean toward libertarianism.

Do they see any validity to this?  Is it a red herring?

Bloomberg is a piece of crap Liberal propaganda outlet.  Their job is to create disention among (our) ranks regarding our candidates.

As far as Libertarians go;  I really like Neal Bortz's brand of Libertarianism and he can't stand the Libertarian Party and many of it's nonsense platform positions (such as legalizing all drugs).  Libertarians are as broad a lable as TEA Party people; what one group says represents 'us" may or may not encompass some of the thing we share in common, while some claiming themselves to speak for TEA or Libertarians may have little or nothing in common with some of their own beliefs and those of the majority of either of these groups (they are not organizations; as soon as you find domeone saying/thin king they are, they are misdirecting others and using the"label'to promote their own personal agenda!

We are only interested in your brand of libertarianism here on the forum.  Do YOU see Cruz appealing to libertarians of your ilk?

Don't bother with shooting the messenger.  It is the message that needs to be validated or debunked.   The article quotes people who claim to be libertarian.  They state why they prefer Cruz over Rand.  Are those legitimate points?

Not being a libertarian myself, I am in no position to assess whether their statements are relevant.

I view the libertarian/conservative issue as not a distinct line. IMHO, the major differences are with foreign policy. However, there is some agreement in positions concerning personal responsibility and choice. It is called freedom. I also tend to agree with the Boortz Brand. I think Cruz can attract  some Paul supporters once Paul drops out. However, he will not pick up the loonies who have migrated from Paul's dad to him. They will stay home.

Am I wrong in assuming that we all are interested in one another's opinions on this forum?

Wally, seemed to indicate that he embrace libertarianism in his post.  I was merely seeking to learn if he saw any libertarian qualities in Cruz.

I apologize if this was offensive.  I will refrain from using "we" in the future.

The article took a lot of time to say Libertarians will vote for the most conservative candidate. And that is Cruz.

Rand keeps avoiding being obsolete... the latest incident is his humiliation of Demmie Wasserman-Schultz over the when life begins challenge from early last week.

Clear-thinking Libertarians are going to agree with Paul's Republican-take... as Cruz had no 'control' of how the issue was brought-up.

"You go back and you ask (DNC Chair) Debbie Wasserman Schultz if she's OK with killing a seven-pound baby that is not born yet," he told a group of reporters, according to nationaljournal.com. "Ask her when life begins, and you ask Debbie when it's OK to protect life. When you get an answer from Debbie, get back to me."

That was a masters stroke. The Democrats may think twice before bringing abortion up again.
