I was reading and editorial in the WSJ, although the editorial isn't the most interesting thing. What's really interesting is the commentary following the editorial. Especially the commentators who profess the belief that ANYTHING the government does is right, and that we should obey it, and maybe sue them later on. The conformist mind set of some of thes people is frightening. 200 plus years ago, they all would have been rock ribbed Tories; after all, it was our duty to obey the agents of the King. Men dressed in black, faces covered, armed to the teeth, come bursting into your home; and you're supposed to assume they're government agents?

One thing, a search warrant was supposedly issued for the compound, because Koresh had purchased an "illegal" .50 caliber rifle? I know machine guns are illegal, but a rifle, no matter what the caliber. Has the law changed between now and then?

I like the focus on religious secession. "Live and let live" used to be the norm. Now it's "live as is politically correct, or else"...

I think Waco was the point where the Dims realized:"It's for the children", would allow them to get away with just about anything.

I never understood why it was necessary to burn all those people to death,  men, women and children.  If they had waited, they would eventually have come out.  I think Janet Reno got her kicks burning people to death.  It is a shameful episode in our country's history.

Those people at Waco defied the power of the almighty government. To the statists running our government, the only appropriate punishment was death.

WACO was an interesting paradox, frankly, most of you folks don;t know the 'real' story.

About two years after WACO I made a study of the entire incident and incorporated into my training program on "dynamic search warrant execution" I was using WACO of an example of WHAT NOT TO DO.

Everything that could be done wrong from a law enforcement perspective was done wrong, including the people in charge of the "investigation' orginally,They found a back office pogue who was an ambitions ladder climber and knew nothing about the law, search warrant execution or criminal investigation, the worst possible type to be in charge of anything. He wouldn't listen to cooler (more experienced) heads because they were underlings.

Then of course you had Janet Reno who is an angry man hating
lesbian and Bill Clinton who was henpecked to death by the uber shrew Hillary who HATES GUNS (and white males).

Throw all that into the mix and you have a recipie for disaster.

I can see another "WACO" looming on the Horizon if we keep up with this anti gun rant the Govt is getting into now.

Clinton and Reno should have been tried and faced the ultimate penalty for their crimes in this and Ruby Ridge.  What he did was cold blooded MURDER as a distraction for his affair with Lewinski. I know the Left always idolizes these murderers (like Uncle Ted), but we need to always reminde them who they are and who they admire (like Mao)
