QuoteMilitary prosecutors have reached into a section of military law seldom used since World War II in the politically fraught case against Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the soldier held prisoner for years by the Taliban after leaving his post in Afghanistan.

"Bergdahl's attorney, Eugene Fidell, has argued his client is being charged twice for the same action, saying in a previous television interview that "it's unfortunate that someone got creative in drafting the charge sheet and figured out two ways to charge the same thing."

Could this be a setup to have the charges thrown out due to "double charging"? It sure has taken a long time to bring charges. Knowing this administration, they may have spent all this time looking for an out. The fact they even allowed him to be charged raises a red flag with me.

"Held prisoner" my aunt Fanny.  The pustule is a traitor, pure and simple. He deserted in time of war, and gave information to the enemy.  He should be shoved against a wall and shot.

He deserves the same punishment as Pvt. Eddie Slovik got in WWII - a firing squad.

Try his worthless ass for treason, at least that'll get him the death penalty.

"For Bergdahl, the Article 99 offense allows the prosecutors to seek a stiffer penalty than the desertion charge, which in this case carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison."

Many time you have multiple charges for the same offence! IE: Murder or manslaughter! With this charge over his head he may be forced to accept the max on the desertion charge to avoid the trial!

"...a maximum of five years in prison"?! How convenient. I wouldn't be surprised if the military credits him for the five years he was held as a 'prisoner' towards any sentence he might receive.

Obamao will commute the sentence because his father is a good Muslim....

If found guilty of the new charges he could get 99 years!
