We all made similar jokes, and in each case the leftists here got outraged at the idea. Then they'd go into their ululations for Jug Ears, complete with prostrations and screaming from the minarets.

It sounds stupid to us, but people who in a sense worship the state turn their politicians into idols, and they really hoped Obama would "save" them. It's ironic that these people also seem to be the most cynical and yet they invested so much in the optimism they perceived was flowing from Obama.
