Let's be truthful. This was not a legal decision, but a political one. He is currently in a runoff for reelection.

I guess he's gambling on being able to prove this assertion.
For the purposes of this thread I searched to see what GA Law is and found this...
For instance, it's considered aggravated assault when the crime is carried out with a deadly weapon or any device that causes or is likely to cause serious bodily injury when used offensively. Also, armed robbery involves using an offensive weapon to forcibly take property away from someone. The Georgia Supreme Court has recognized that stun guns and Tasers may be considered offensive weapons that are likely to result in serious bodily injury, depending on how they're used (Harwell v. State, 512 S.E.2d 892 (Ga. Sup. Ct. 1999)).

DA Paul Howard got caught with his pants down and now is trying to get dressed. Where in Georgia law says that you have to fire a taser twice for it not to be considered a "deadly weapon".
DA Paul Howard is going to get spanked in the court of law. He is going to have to choose between two evils. The Black officers who tased the Blacked students or the White officer defending himself when he was tased by a Black man.
Once again the tale of two tasers. Like supsalemgr stated "Let's be truthful. This was not a legal decision, but a political one. He is currently in a runoff for reelection".
I say he lets the Black officers go like he did with Black NFL linebacker Ray Lewis and hang the White Officer for defending himself.

It's outrageous and unbearable what they are doing to this officer.

AGREE, these cops did nothing but protect themselves. They will walk and should. Why is it so hard to understand if getting arrested and fight back one is going to get hurt or killed???? Not that hard to understand. Hell even LaBron might even understand this??? Maybe!

Easy to prove, there are documented cases where people have DIED after being tazed by cops. When LE first went to the tazer Our Dept researched the weapons. In my role as a defensive tactics instructor, I had my doubts about its effectiveness Vs its propensity to accidently kill someone by cardiac arrest. There are guidelines and limitations to using a tazer,
Officers shall not use a tazer to subdue the following persons anyone with a heart condition, someone very old, some one very young, someone who has a medical condition, someone under the influence of uber stimulant drugs such as Methamphetimine.
The loudest scream came from the Left (of course) when persons were seriously injured or killed, most of whom had stimulant drugs in their system. This collective scream of course is just one of the reasons our dept: Wash DC MPD decided not to adopt the tazer to our inventory this was Mid 1990's
However, the question of TAZERS as a deadly weapon is a moot point ;TAZERS will incapacitate you, guarantee it, I know as I got tazed a few times....went right down on the gym floor. Officers are taught that once a suspect gains control of your defensive weapons, they have no restrictions as You the Cop has, they can strike you in the head with your stick, spray you in the eyes, retrieve your firearm and kill you with it, batter you senseless with fists, and of course render you near helpless with your own tazer, take your side arm and kill you....oh there are PLENTY of incidents were cops have been
killed with their own weapons after having them taken after being
incapacitated DURING A STRUGGLE.... just like THIS ONE.
Now with that in mind, I have a few other issues that I'll reserve for future debates, of some other possibilities in this case
