the author of this article indicates that Nunes dropped the ball when the House was in the hands of the Republicans.  Could he have avoided a  lot of problems if he would of done something then?  The author, with what he presented, kinda makes a person wonder if something was amiss...

That's sorta that Elephant in the room everyone references.    Why is it that when the repugs have both houses they drag their feet and let the left put up roadblocks.  The left sure doesn't allow the right to do that to them.  Look at Virginia right now.   Northam is pushing his agenda every week and there is either no pushback or he doesn't care.

For the first two years of Trump's administration Ryan controlled the House and McConnell the Senate. Trump had not yet figured out they were part of the swamp. I am hopeful the GOP takes back the House and we will see a different situation for the second chance.

Pretty much spot on. But I'm pretty sure Trump knew the GOP Establishment RINO were, and still are a part of the Deep state, just like we've all known for many years.

Yeah, I think that was more the issue. Trump knew exactly what kind of scum the GOP were, but the RINO had no clue just how smart this guy was, they probably thought they could wrangle him in.
Trump from day one talked of draining the swamp, I don't think they knew that included them.

The evolution of McConnell is an example. He is still the same guy, but he learned pretty quickly Trump was the real deal.

No doubt about it! It would appear Trump has something on the Con. McCon hates nothing more than being in charge, he and Ryan loved blaming the Dims as he signed away our liberties.
Trump comes along and tells McCON that he is going to build the GOP and you better get used to having to answer to the electorate for a change.
Now Trump will target the House and hold McCON responsible for passing Bills he wants.
