Colorado Dems who voted for the state's new gun control laws have been running for their political lives. Two were recently recalled in a race where the anti-gunners were heavily favored, with Dems outspending the recallers 8:1. The next recall target was state Senator Evie Huvak, a very vulnerable target indeed. Her defeat would have meant that Republicans would gain control of the Colorado Senate. Rather than take that chance, Huvak resigned (probably under incredible pressure from her fellow Dems) in order to allow the state Dem party to appoint a successor and maintain control of the Senate. But while the petition drive was on, there were some shenanigans... From National Review Online:

QuoteHaving been roundly beaten last time, the gun-control movement changed its tactics for this fight. For September's recalls, anti-gun advocates managed to outspend their opposition by 8-1. They lost anyway. In September, they brought in heavy hitters from the Obama campaign and beyond, waging a professional campaign against rank amateurs whose campaigns were widely regarded as a waste of time. They lost anyway. In September, they had reams of positive national news coverage. They lost anyway.

This time, in desperation, the gloves came off.

"As we speak, we have multiple cars monitoring us at our offices and filming us from the parking lot," Mike McAlpine, who headed up the recall effort, told me yesterday. "This is not a one-off event. We hold sign-and-drive events on the sidewalks near to busy intersections, and we hold signs inviting people to pull over and sign the petition. Our opponents have taken to blocking us: as cars pull in, they run up to the driver's side door and physically stand next to the door so that the person inside cannot open the door and come outside."

The whole story is worth a read.

The democraps are running scared up their in Colorado. They wanted to make a big hoopla over the 2nd Amendment now they must face the people.

LIAMD

They're the best cheaters...got to hand it to them on that front. And oh how they cry, scream and carry on when the GOP uses like tactics or things don't go their way.  Everyone remember when the WI senate stomped off like children and left the state in response to the budget changes?  Why everyone of them was not fired for dereliction of duty I'll never understand.

The Chicago Daley Machine is going nationwide.

I think a lot of people don't fully know what that entails.

Wouldn't physically preventing someone driving his own car from opening the door and emerging from the vehicle fall under the legal definition of assault? If not, it seems that it ought to be a prosecutable offense.

Yes, and/or (depending on the local code) some form of unlawful detention or false imprisonment.

However about the only skill liberals have lies in re-defining words.  So, where they're in charge - and Detroit would most definitely qualify - none of those definitions may apply to this particular case.
