But now the old man was controlling the situation...If I was in the same situation (God forbid!) I hope would have acted likewise.

I wouldn't go as far as to say controlling, but rather trying to take control.  It still could've gone a different way had the robber fired and downed the old man when the weapon was aimed on him.  Then You'd had a wounded gunman who just dropped someone. That situation could be even worse.

We can scenario this to death though, it seems We agree, it's risky either way.

While I applaud the old man, he isn't a very good shot. He was so close to the robber, and he still didn't shoot him good.

When the adrenaline kicks in........

Even cops miss.

He should have shot the guy in the head, going for the kill shot.

These punks will probably recover, go to jail for a few weeks, and then be released to do more harm. Better to have shot them dead in the first place.

You never and I mean never go for a head shot in a situation like that.  You shoot for center mass.

That head shot bullshit is only for Hollywood movies.

No it's not, cause

lots can happen.

No shit Sherlock.  That's why I posted what I did.

The old gent did the right thing.

Of course you would have been content to sit there and let the robbers have their way right?

The old man had snatched control of the action from the armed perp and was dictating how the events would unfold...the perp was reacting....I have been in too many street situations not to attempt to seize the initiative.

I agree He was trying to take control of a bad situation that could've gone either way.

No...he had already seized it.  After his first shot HE MOVED TOWARD THE PERPS as he continued to fire, ensuring the armed perp, who was now at a disadvantage and had to retreat, did not have time to either stand his ground and fire back or find cover.

The perp could've fired in that situation rather than just pointing his weapon.  The old man is lucky that these guys weren't the type that

Had I been armed I cant say that I wouldn't have attacked as well, Taxi. And it still would have been risky, either way.

Why are You focusing on My belief that this could've also gone bad for the people there? Do You not believe that to be the case?

Lucky?   You better look at the vid again...the perp NEVER had a chance to return fire.
