Time for a Pope under 70...

LOL  all 70 did for me was slow me down.  It just takes me longer to get from point A to point B.  The nice thing about it.  I have more time to think as my brain has not slowed down.  I have alway found that when you get to point B you start thinking about something other then what you were thinking.      I will say that age has gives me more time and wisdom then I had at 50 or 60.

I'd love to know the REAl reason he is Giving up the Position.

Yawn

The REAL reason is his age. Despite my feelings about the origin of this church, I don't believe this man is a LIAR. Is that what you all believe?

My mom died a couple weeks ago at 79 1/2. There were HUGE changes in her mentally and physically the last few months of her life. She went SUDDENLY from being a "senior citizen" to a frail old woman who couldn't even walk without assistance. She couldn't climb a curb without hanging on to something. Her memory failed rapidly as well. All this took place in less than 6 months. Old age sucks. I wish him well in his last days. He was wise to recognize his limitations before it became a problem.

And why does choosing a black pope HAVE to be an "affirmative action" pick? The one that is a likely successor is described a culturally conservative.

A potentially explosive report has linked the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI to the discovery of a network of gay prelates in the Vatican, some of whom – the report said – were being blackmailed by outsiders.

The pope's spokesman declined to confirm or deny the report, which was carried by the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica.

The paper said the pope had taken the decision on 17 December that he was going to resign – the day he received a dossier compiled by three cardinals delegated to look into the so-called "Vatileaks" affair.

Last May Pope Benedict's butler, Paolo Gabriele, was arrested and charged with having stolen and leaked papal correspondence that depicted the Vatican as a seething hotbed of intrigue and infighting.
