Where are the gutless Republicans?

The death of George Floyd on May 25th was horrific, an obvious abuse of power by the Minneapolis police officer and 3 colleagues who made no attempt to come to Floyd's aid.  The next day the rioting began in Minneapolis.  It was violent, destructive and murderous. Tragically, the death of this one man at the hands of one particular bad cop became an opportunity for the demolition of the city.  Hundreds of small businesses, many of them minority-owned, were destroyed.

Like previous riots, the rioters have set their own communities back decades.  The riots spread to New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and elsewhere.  There have been protests in nearly every other city in America.  Hundreds of millions of dollars in losses due to looting and damage to buildings have been incurred.

The crisis has devolved into more destruction of historical statues; Columbus has been executed over and over again.  In nearly all cases, the police have been ordered to let the rioters have their way; they were not allowed to do their job.

Nearly all the rioting took place in cities chronically and badly run by Democrats, public officials who have for years implemented every misguided progressive policy known to man.  They are all destined to fail.  As Dov Fischer wrote, "Systemic Racism and Bigotry are the Lifeblood of the left."  These riots tell the story.

The question is where on earth are the Republicans?  Why has there been no press conference with every Republican in the House and Senate standing together to denounce all this violence?  To passionately defend our police?  They know damn well that Chauvin is an outlier, a bad cop who has kept his job because his Democrat-run city kept him despite his abusive tendencies.

Would any of these Republicans put up with their own children behaving in such a manner?  Of course not.  Every Republican knows that when you permit bad behavior, you get more of it; lots more of it.  A small child wants to find out where the limits are.  The same is likely true with these perps.   Let them act out day after day and they will escalate, as they have in Seattle.  Governor Inslee is a fool, as is Mayor Garcetti of Los Angeles.

The thugs in Seattle who have taken over a seven-block section of downtown, which includes a police precinct, are armed and dangerous.  They are extorting the businesses within their "autonomous zone."  No one is stopping them.  The mob has taken over.  They have made the mayors of these cities cower in the corners of their mansions.  There is not a courageous one among them.  They are all yielding to the lowest common denominators, the thugs.    Where are our law and order Republicans brave enough to name what we are seeing unfold: domestic  terrorism.

Why is President Trump always alone in saying what needs to be said?  And when he says what needs to be said, he is viciously attacked by the Democrats and the media who, like Pavlov's dog, consider any word he says as an opportunity for slander.  And the Republicans do not come to his defense.

The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved an amendment aimed at blocking President Trump from deploying active-duty troops against protesters.

Trump made the threat amid the height of the protests against police violence and racial injustice that were sparked by the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed when a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes. The officer has since been charged with second-degree murder.

Protests around the country were largely peaceful, but a small number turned violent and looting was reported. Trump threatened to deploy troops if governors did not "dominate" the protesters.

If Heritage Foundation can't support the most basic tenets of America's founding and affirm its rise to exceptionalism, what is the point of Heritage at all? They claim to be conservatives, but what have they conserved? Where are their victories?

Their own list of alleged accomplishments is amusing, to say the least. Heritage claims credit for the list of President Donald Trump's judges—which is funny, as it is common knowledge among conservatives that the list was compiled, analyzed, and vetted by the Federalist Society at the direction of Leonard Leo and former White House Counsel Don McGahn. Heritage takes credit for being active in some policy issues during the Trump Administration, too. But for an institution that once prided itself on being the "think tank" of the Reagan Revolution, that's not saying much.

Heritage Fostered Obamacare

What is more interesting—and telling—is what Heritage considers one of its greatest achievements in the past 20 years. Going back to 2003 this former bastion for the limited size of government brags about doubling in size, building an eight-story office edifice with a 230-person seat auditorium. More troubling than expanding its own footprint is its efforts to vastly expand the size and reach of the federal government by promoting and pushing ideas that are antithetical to conservative principles.

I hope that democrat Marxist group doesn't try and take over my town here in Florida.
In my younger days when it happened in Connecticut, with my close friends we had fun changing some minds.
I can't imagine someone asking me for an ID to be able to go back into my living area. If it is an armed one, I have bad news for him. Ever hear of Mozambique pistol shooting? I do it once in a while. Usually when trying to teach a neighbor gun safety and self-defense. I am a precision target shooter. I fire 90 rounds twice a week for that sport.
There are about 1500 members of the shooting range that I belong to. And they don't like what they are seeing either. We can't understand why the cops just don't go in there and break some heads and fill the jail cells.

If you don't mind my asking...what town are you in.  MY son is in St Cloud and shoots on his property.  HIs neighbors shoot on their property also and it's fine with everyone.

Republicans have all but endorsed Black Lives Matter, the group's ethnic chauvinism, and their murky grievances with America's putative "systemic racism."

Here was Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) the other day:

You know, none of us have had the experience of being an African American in this country and dealing with this discrimination, which persists here some 50 years after the 1964 civil rights bill and the 1965 civil rights bill—we're still wrestling with America's original sin.

Original sin!

If Republicans reject defunding the police, then logically they should reject Black Lives Matter, which advocates defunding the police. They should do so loudly, vigorously, and articulately. But they haven't, and they won't.

If the Republican Party won't defend the rule of law, protect the silent majority, and push back against calumnies against America and its people, then what are they there for?

Good question.

A recent investigation by the Claremont Institute's Thomas Klingenstein is worth noting. It's a lengthy piece, but the essence of the argument is that Republicans don't stand for anything. Unlike the Left, they don't argue from basic principles of justice; all they have are cheap slogans. "Limited government! Lower taxes! Decentralization!" You get the idea. The Republican Party doesn't operate with deliberation and purpose; they're shadowboxers.

That purpose ought to be preserving what Klingenstein calls "the American way of life," which  obviously is threatened at the moment.

One key point that Klingenstein raises concerns rhetoric: lawmakers aren't just there to pass laws, but to edify the public and explain to them the threats to their way of life. But unlike Democrats, Republicans don't bother to explain the things they want or think we should want as Americans.

To adapt Klingenstein's argument to the present moment, it's obvious what the Republican Party should be doing. They should be standing up for law and order while explaining to the American people how Black Lives Matter, its anti-American slander, and its program of racial extremism is hostile to Americans, their institutions, and their welfare.

Instead of saying, "Defund the police is crazy socialism, but some reforms are probably needed to address America's painful history of genocide," they should be saying, "America is a great country, not a racist country, and we will defend it to the very last day."

While appearing to adopt contrary rhetoric, the Republicans have endorsed the Left's principle, which means they have no argument against the Left's demands.

They have surrendered to the narrative of anti-American hatred.

The Republican Party lacks either the intelligence or the courage to sense the big picture and engage accordingly. This is not just about the police. America is facing an elite uprising with the objective of reconstituting America at its very core and punishing all dissenters.

It is a matter not just of political interest, but of duty, that president Trump and the Republicans forcefully oppose Black Lives Matter and the woke faction that is working with them to destroy the United States.

If they can't do that, then there is no reason for the Republican Party to exist.

For most Republicans today, whatever gave you the idea they have a spine? We are not Republicans here, we are Conservatives who just happen to vote for the party that is the much lesser of 2 evils

With all these lawyers with cameras on the street I'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.
This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.
How come nobody was interested in educating people about these rights until online videos got monetization?

You might want to revise your statement.

I would forward a copy of it to various Conservative outlets. If he gets any type of material, send it to those same outlets. Doesn't sound like they value him as a human being. Doesn't sound like his job is every safe or sound. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
