I can't say the same about Nevada. One time I got a glimpse of that famous Mormon Harry Reid.

And 'No', Walks, it wasn't in one of those Nevada whorehouses.

Why pay for something you can negotiate for.   Can you say Nancy Pelosi.

Yep, same here, I do a trash search of the property, pile it all up, cover it with slash and fall from trees and brush and drag a heavy grate over and wait for the coals so I can cook some burgers..
Not a damn thing they can say.

Actually they can...all it takes is a change of local ordinance.  The city that I work for allows "cooking fires" However, they must be no more than 3 feet in diameter and no higher than 18 inches.  All that can be burned is vegetative matter in it's natural state less than 6 inches in diameter.  The county has air quality control that strictly prohibits burning of any trash (cooking or not).  Let the air sheriff here catch you with a 2x4 in your cooking fire and you face a hefty fine!

Luckily I live in an unincorporated part of the county in the wilderness, so there is no town with jurisdiction over us.
By the time anyone could even get out here, the "BBQ" would be over and we'd all be sitting around smokin stogies anyway.
The only ones that say anything about the air here is Sacramento air resources board about half way to the ocean from here, and my county refuses to enforce their BS regs.

They actually told Sacto. if you want your regs enforced, then pay us, otherwise, we do not have the budget or man power to spare. In short, they told them to FOAD.

You appear to blame Mormons for a century of air pollution. Care to support that? Or is it better to say pollution occurred since this date, but religion had little to do it it and industry (and natural topography) had a lot.

Don't know if you are trying to be humorous or what.

My point about Brigham Young and the pioneers who settled in the Salt Lake Valley is that the temperature inversion is a natural phenomenon - independent of human cause. Before industry came to the valley the bad air would be caused by forest/wildfires, or even wind storm kicking up dust off the salt flats.

I would also point out, if anything, these pollution events are less intense than in previous years. This is because 1) wood heating is not nearly as common as it has been in the past, and 2) coal is no longer a major source of heating in the valley*.

*Coal as a heating fuel lasted longer here in Utah than else where in the country. My mother-in-law's house, which was built in the late 50s early 60s, ("modern" for all intents and purposes) still had an operational outside coal door and coal bunker in their basement.

Even neanderthals burned wood in northern cold climates. But watch out, here comes modern liberal/socialist homo sapiens, who want to tell everyone , nope don't you do that....ban or no ban, I find my backside in Utah in Winter I'm burning whatever the hell I can to stay warm. So all the trees in Utah are forewarned now.

But then again maybe it's just that I am from a northern state where we know that not only will the cold kill your ass, but it'll kill your ass real fast like.
