The U.S. Postal Service has warned newspapers that it is a felony to mail material that includes marijuana advertising.

The Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association forwarded the recent federal advisory to its 100 or so members this week. The group's executive director said the association "strongly discourages" Oregon newspapers that rely on the U.S. mail for delivery from accepting "any type of marijuana advertising."

This reminds me of that 1960s fight over the right to mail Lady Chatterley's Lover.

One wonders how print media ANYWHERE is doing these days. At least in Oregon the advertisers are actually paying for something the voting public (for its own reasons) decided would be legal.

Gee. 10th Amendment and 1st Amendment. And it's a 9th Circuit Court kind of issue, in their very own area. If it goes one way, the print media loses revenue. If it goes the other, look for that 32-page color Dope-R-Us catalog in the Sunday supplements.....

The print media is dying on the vine anyway.

The last time I looked at the Dallas Morning News it was 95% ads.

Actually, I think people buy it today FOR the ads..... classified, etc.

As soon as the older generation is gone, so it the newspaper!

Looking at the law
http://media.oregonlive.com/marijuana/other/2015/12/02/USPSrulesonmarijuana%20(2).pdf

It seems pretty trivial for a dispensary to word their advertisement to comply.  They can talk about it, show pictures, even say they have it, just not offer to sell it.  Probably excludes things like listing prices or having coupons.

Furthermore, the DEA/DoJ enforces it, so it's not likely to be a problem.

Honestly, we should just remove marijuana from federal schedule-1 classification and let states decide.

Couldn't disagree with you more.  It's a huge danger, especially to our youth.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

Set age limits like alcohol or tobacco and let people make up their own minds.  No reason for the federal government to be involved.

What's your point?  The federal government should ban anything potentially dangerous?  I still say let the states decide.

Yeah?  And the "experts" also say we're going to all die from global warming (excuse me, CLIMATE CHANGE) if we don't let our governments ream us with CO2 regulations.  Government "experts" are no more trustworthy than the governments who pay them to say what the governments want them to say.

CLUE: Every single "study" which shows the harmful effects of MJ use invariably end up turning to chronic abuse levels to garner their data. It's like using 5th-of-scotch-a-day alcoholics to argue against allowing wine in fast food restaurants.

I agree with Dori.  Dope should not be a recreational drug.  JMHO

It is just one more nail in the coffin of our once wholesome culture!

Do you think people should be able to buy heroin or crack on the open market or leave it to the states too?

I can play this game too.  Do you believe alcohol should be illegal?  Tobacco?  What about caffeine?  Refined Sugar?

But sure, leave it to the states.  I also believe the states would outlaw those so no harm done.

Go ahead and TRY to outlaw coffee. Just try! Don't be surprised at how mean people are if they haven't had their cup of Joe.
