It P.O.s me because Obama will NEVER turn this into a war on drugs!!!!
Hillary needs to come out and support the Liberal gun bans Obama pushes. The second amendment should take a prominent role in this election cycle debate!!

Why's the perp wearing Rhodesian and South African flag-patches?

-Trying to be precociously diversionary, I'd guess.

drugs in this case are going to be used as an excuse or "justification" well your honor the defendant was under the influence of drugs (prescribed medication) and not responsible for his actions....blah blah blah....

I wager we're going to find a long history of drug abuse with this punk and perscription drugs being at the core.

Its going to be interesting to see if the kid talks and what he says is the motivation for his crime, ending all the speculation and nonsense, I wonder what will be the reaction should he mention Obamao, Holder, Sharpton or Jesse.

What agenda?

It was way worse in the 60's.  Racial unrest wasn't an illusion, like today's social-networking tries so hard to project.  They're small-minded racial-nostalgists who missed-out on the factual relevance of past unrests... including soetoro.

Think about how huge the Country is.

Comparing black on white crimes today with 1963, assaults on the innocent (both ways,) violence in predominantly black neighborhoods, arrests, resisting arrests, crimes involving firearms, general disrespect and disorderly conduct, anti-social behavior in general, I'd have to say the claim that it was worse in 1963 than today is purely a matter of opinion and perception.
For one thing, Baltimore MD has been in a state of utter lawlessness since, what, February?

It's not the guns, its the drugs!

QuoteThe question is, during the past twenty years is the use of antidepressants here a coincidence or a causation?

There have been too many mass shootings for it just to be a coincidence.  Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed twelve students and a teacher at Columbine High School.   Eric was on Luvox, an antidepressant.  The Virginia Tech shooter killed thirty-two people and he was on an antidepressant.  While withdrawing from Prozac, Kip Kinkel murdered his mother and stepmother.  He then shot twenty-two classmates and killed two.  Jason Hoffman wounded five at his high school while he was on Effexor, also an antidepressant.  James Holmes opened fire in a Colorado movie theater this past summer and killed twelve people and wounded fifty-eight.  He was under the care of a psychiatrist but no information has been released as to what drug he must have been on.

This kid had a track record of bad behavior and hatred. What in the hell was his father thinking when he gave him gun for his 21st birthday.

On another note it seems the community is coming together. So far the race baiters have not gained any traction. Has there been any Sharpton sightings?

Sharpton was somewhat late arriving to the Ferguson scene.  The black panthers were early on the scene with plenty of vitriol to pump the local nincompoops.  They prefer to generate their brand of hatred into the locals.... to make it look more authentic.

Good for the fine folks of Charleston for holding it together very well.... so far!

I thought the exact same thing. Then it hit me, this kid din't come by his racism all on his own, and these drugs only exacerbated the issue by a power of 10, his inbred racism.
I'm only guessing here, his parents had a lot to do with his thought process.

I reflect back to my childhood, my dad hated cats, so I, like my father hated them as well and never questioned why.
That was until I got to know a cat and all that stupid childish prejudice disappeared.

Obviously this kid is mentally ill and acted on his fear and hatred, the drugs, like many drugs make it easier to act on impulse.
This kid should not be allowed a plea of insanity, he knew what he was doing was wrong. Kill the little cancer.

I think you will get your wish.  He has admitted his guilt and apparently will not fight it.  He will plea and the Judge will sentence.  End of story.

Actually, the Feds will likely discourage that.   They want a long drawn out trial with lots of time to fan the flames of racial discord.   :cursing:

It is being reported that Mom took the gun away and the kid stole it back. It appears Mom and Dad are not together.

His grandfather says that Roof was given "birthday money" and that the family didn't know what Roof did with it.

Looks like mom knew his potential for violence, and dad didn't care.

Yep, most of it is probably going to be traced back thru one or more disfunctions in his life.  But, haven't we all had to overcome in some way without going out and killing a bunch of people?  This act has the potential of doing more than just ending lives and causing tremendous grief for family members of the victims.  It has the potential for causing grief for thousands of people struggling to overcome racism and the problems that this kind of event produces.  It was a purely evil act.

In the meantime, let no tragedy go to waste.  We've got that trade deal being somewhat overlooked while stuff like this is going on.  We need to keep our eyes on the things that keep growing out of hand.

We can't just write this off as "racism" and drug induced insanity.. There was a REASON this kid hated black people and there was a reason why he targeted that specific Church. Looking at him he might have been bullied by black kids in school, robbed by street drug dealers (Black) or any other number of "triggers" it could also be he targeted the Pastor who was also a state politician, or perhaps that Church offers drug counciling and he had issues with somebody there ....who knows, but I think the truth will come out.

I agree, it isn't just a one issue, one size fits all answer.
The one overwhelming issue in all of this is, the kid was a freakin nut with drug problems, all the other factors merely reinforced his hatred for everything, including himself.
Many times these failed individuals focus on one issue to blame for their on failures in life, such as standing up for ones self, and it would appear his scapegoat was blacks.

Had he not had access to a gun, I could almost guarantee more would have died from most likely a bomb or incendiary device.
Terror was his choice, luckily it was only a gun in the hands of a single individual.
