Martin O'Malley: Zero out fossil fuels by 2050

Today, Pope Francis published his first encyclical —an official teaching document to all 1.2 billion Catholics — on the moral imperative of addressing climate change. He is not alone among leaders of world faiths making such a clarion call for action.

We have come a long way as a nation in making ourselves more energy independent. Now is the time to take this progress to the next level — the future of our country and our planet depends on it.

New technologies now put an independent clean energy future decidedly within our reach as a nation.

But reach for it we must.

Clean energy represents the biggest business and job creation opportunity we've seen in a hundred years. And reliance on local, renewable energy sources means a more secure nation and a more stable world.

Given the grave threat that climate change poses to human life on our planet, we have not only a business imperative but a moral obligation to future generations to act immediately and aggressively.

This is why protecting the United States from the devastating impact of climate change — while capitalizing on the job creation opportunity of clean energy — is at the center of my campaign for president.

All of us can acknowledge that with an "all of the above strategy," President Obama has made the United States more energy independent in every category of fuels, including oil and gas.

But America did not land a man on the moon with an "all of the above strategy." It was an engineering challenge.

Making the transition to a clean energy future is also an engineering challenge.

We cannot meet the climate challenge with an all-of-the-above energy strategy, or by drilling off our coasts, or by building pipelines that bring oil from tar sands in Canada.

So I suppose Hillary will respond with "Zero out fossil fuels by Tuesday"...

So when is Pope Francis going to give up all that money, and feed the poor???????

This is nothing. With Bernie in the race it will become a contest of who hates rich people more and who will give away the most for free. It will become a caricature of liberalism.

Zero out "fossil" fuel by 2050?

Um, excuse me, but according to "scientific consensus" (of 30 or so years ago) we should be running out of "fossil" fuel, just about now!

But, we're not! Not even close! In fact, if you adjust for inflation a gallon of gas is not much more expensive than it was 30 years ago. In some places, it is less expensive than a gallon of milk!

The law of supply and demand would seem to indicate that if we were truly running out of oil, gasoline should be more expensive than gold! But it isn't - not even close!

The dirty little secret is, we are not running out of oil and probably won't in the foreseeable future.

Now, if you were a big oil company and you knew that you had more oil than you really knew what do do with, how would you make sure that you product's price didn't drop through the basement?

Would you, perchance, get the government (via political lobbyist and bought and paid for politicians) to put all sorts of restrictions on the production of that product thus creating an artificial shortage and an artificially inflated price?

And isn't that just exactly what the Obama Administration has been doing for the past 6 1/2 years?

And isn't that just exactly what the Democrat Party wants to continue to do for as long as they can get away with it?

Now, can somebody tell me, again, just which political party is in the pocket of "Big Oil"?

Reading Bernie's stats, he only gets 5% support of nonwhites.
There is no way in hell he will beat the Klinton.

What they don't seem to know is that "fossil fuel" THEORY is just a THEORY. Others believe the earth makes the stuff. History has proven over and over that we ain't running out any time soon. God loved us enough to give us these resources, but it's up to us to keep those pesky libtards out of positions of power!
