We have a mild rainstorm in Salem, Mass today.

Following it we had a Double-Rainbow. For the Main RainBow one end terminated at the Water Tower; the other at a Power Plant.

I did enjoy it.

It's been while since I read about St. Patrick, but Gunn is right I think.  Those guys didn't drink.  They rode around solving disputes and other problems.  Terry Jones parodied it best in Monty Python & The Holy Grail in the scene where the townspeople thought a woman was a witch.

For some reason, like a lot of historical leaders, St. Patrick's favorite thing to do was matchmaking and solving marriage-quarrels.

Actually, Patrick was English.
Around the year 500 something,
he was kidnapped by the Irish at age 14.
A few years later, he escaped.
After that, he went back to Ireland as a missionary.
Ireland is one of the few nations that adopted Christianity
without slaughtering lots of missionaries.

No, Ireland divided itself into two halves of Christianity and killed EACH OTHER.

No, Ireland divided itself into two halves of Christianity and killed EACH OTHER.

That happened about 1100 years later.

The English conquered the northern region
and moved lots of settlers in.
The English Protestants fought the Irish Catholics.

They've been fighting less in recent decades
because they don't want to scare away
the industries that have been moving in.
