Post by: MACMan on December 03, 2015, 03:38:03 PM

"This means that as long as they qualify and meet the standards, women will now be able to contribute to our mission in ways they could not before," Carter said. "They'll be able to drive tanks, give orders, lead infantry soldiers into combat."

With a caveat. We'll be lowering the standards.....

It will be just like the Nobel Peace Prize now.

Woman that worked there asses off to get some place in the military, by following the standards should be very pissed.   The military is now becoming like the new public educations.  It's not PC to hold some one back in this day and age.

It doesn't make sense.  Big deal[/i, that they can do some of the same things men can do.  A woman has already commanded a shuttle-mission, including docking at the ISS.  Let them keep doing tactical transport tech.  Why do they have to be every facet of combat?  It proves nothing.  It advances nothing.

They already have, "lest we forget."

145 Women Killed in War on Terror

Since the attack on America on September 11, 2001, a total of 145 women deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait have lost their lives in service to America.
Most Americans, and even members of the media, are not aware that 145 brave servicewomen have died in the War on Terrorism. With few exceptions, news stories about their tragic deaths usually appear only in the military press, or in small hometown newspaper stories and television accounts that rarely capture national attention.

The media has been adept at keeping this quiet.

When Obama instituted "stress cards" in Army Basic Training, they did that. I still to this day cannot believe that a trainee can say "oh I'm stressed" and get out of training.

In my day, we'd have given them a Motrin 800 and had their ass back out training, or going home.

Women however have always had different standards than men. Even in basic training, basic P.T., women didn't have to meet the same standards of performance as men do.

Thank God I'm retired and don't have to put up with that BS!

Physically, many combat roles ARE possible...if you aren't required to first carry 100 pounds of gear across impossible terrain. Women are brilliant in background work of all sorts. I'm just not in favor of opening the door which gets them killed.

And this is intended to reinforce military discipline...HOW? "Gee, I'm stressed today, so I'll leave my radar-watching job looking for incoming missiles. Or my job tending the ship's electrical system. Or the....."
