Then he tries to school us on how it is with corrupt third world political pissants who bully local peasantry which he practically condones likely not realizing that is what ends up creating Viet Cong and Taliban more so than anything else.

It seems to me that, if we exterminate the savages, the civilized people would be grateful.

This multicultural "all cultures are equally valid" crap being taught these days just excuses savagery.

It is taught by academics (as opposed to actual intellectuals) who see people and nations as game pieces to be played against one another, to get everybody to beat down everybody, so the ruling clique can more easily conquer ALL the peoples.

Such academics are NOT superior to other people (especially not morally superior!)  They are not truly civilized!  They're just practicing a more sophisticated form of savagery!

Yeah, right. And the Navy was telling squids, don't forget the condoms or this new flesh-eating gonorrhea will definitely eat away your whatsis. (The real flesheater was about 25 years away.) Then there were the stories passed round Colonial campfires about those doxies with the extra poxies, threatening General Washington's valiant lads. (And in every war a variant thereof.)
Yep, they told us the big lie as well, said we'd be locked up in an old army hospital in Japan and they'd throw away the key.
We still spent the 400 won for a full nighter, $2 bucks American.

Ahem! I recall hearing that such things were about $15 in Japan (in yen). Won what?

Well, now I know about the Electric Strawberry.  Wikipedia is wonderful!  (Most of the time.)
That logo really does look like an electric strawberry.
I was disappointed.  I was thinking it would be some kind of device you guys used on the enemy.

A Vietnam veteran told me about a guy he knew over there, who played around with the prostitutes,
and got some really nasty disease.
The government told him, "We don't want that disease coming back to America.  You can't come home."
He was listed MIA.

Right, well the electric strawberry is actauly a leaf of some plant in Hawaii with a lightening bolt through it, Hawaii being the origin of the unit...The Marines used to start fights with us when they saw the shoulder patch and referred to it as the electric...errr...nether parts of a the female....which I suppose ties in to the next part of your post....

AHHHH The dreaded 'Nam  ROSE' yeah they used to scare the crap out of us with that so we wouldn't go down town and visit the local ...err....establishment....which probably had some VC's sister working in it and using the money to buy more rounds for the AK or some chinese stick grenades....anyhow. There was supposed to be another horrible disease...I forget...but if you got it you were going to some God forsaken outpost in Diego Garcia to spend the rest of your life. NO one knew of anyone who got these diseases, but hey it was a good story.

Oh, and lots of guys got a "cold in the pants.....but thats another story...

I was just repeating what the guy told me.

I can see why they'd keep such stories going to scare the GIs out of patronizing those "entrepreneurs."  But why would a veteran tell that to a civilian twenty years later?  (I had never given any hint that I was interested in patronizing such "entrepreneurs.")

I don't beleive that for a second. If anything, we'd have locked em up in an old Army Hospital and studied em.  Just kidding.

But no I don't believe the U.S. would intentionally even try to leave a soldier behind in any theater of war.

Err I mean "police action" for the P.C. police. I was in MEDDAC, we didn't do things like that to sick soldiers. Well at least not in my day, post Vietnam that is. Of course we also didn't persecute a soldier who tried to defend an innocent child who was raped, and their innocent mother either. Turning one's back, on a fellow soldier in need of medical care, and just leaving them in some S.E. hellhole to rot, would be unthinkable, not to mention a violation of the Hippocratic oath.
One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)

Here is a thought...just a tangent if you will....I often wonder to this day if this mysterious disease was AIDES/hiv? Supposedly it was known to WHO in the 1950's in deepest Africa....could such have made it's way to Southeast Asia via some African seaman/sailor? HMMMMM?

Could be the only thing veteran about him was his hearsay military stories. Or, just trying out that old scare-story on someone who would NOT know it's a fable, just to see your reaction.

Reality: on the two aircraft carriers I served on, for the first week after leaving port there would be a line of more than 100 sailors, EVERY morning, leading to Sick Bay. It was called "the Drip Line," for gonorrhea.

Reality: instead of tossing cartoon stories at the crew, the Navy simply had the chow line filing in the other direction, past those same guys with the clap.

Suggest you run this as your footer text, champ. You aren't the first selfstyled military "eggspurt" to come in here and talk nonsense.

I doubt the others had any better luck. You just can't teach a dummy with a closed mind anything.

Yup, my BS meter just went off the scale. Any CAREER SF NCO (That means a guy with likely 20+ years) who doesn't know the nickname of the 25th infantry div who ran interference for countless special forces teams is definitely suspect.

Then he tries to school us on how it is with corrupt third world political pissants who bully local peasantry which he practically condones likely not realizing that is what ends up creating Viet Cong and Taliban more so than anything else.

You are more full of shit than a Christmas goose. The 25th Infantry Division is a straight leg infantry division, and have very little,if anything,to do with SF teams. Even then it would only be teams with camps in their AO,and the SF teams would be furnishing them with intel and running interference for them.

I was in the first gulf war, I was in Kuwait, and let me tell you something. What Saddam's sob's were doing...yes the U.S. did liberate Iraq, yes the U.S. did liberate Kuwait.

But nice try at attempting to justify the inexcusable treatment of our military by the leftist in chief once again.

What the HELL are you talking about?
