Title: Prayer nuts
Post by: quiller on February 13, 2015, 08:57:21 AM
These gorgeous, intricately-carved prayer nuts remain some of the more beautiful outgrowths of Christian worship. Lots of photos of these objects d'art, here. Got a few hundred thousand dollars to invest?

I'd never heard of the things, but WOW!!! That all but redefines craftsmanship! I've seen amazing "carved" jade (at SF's Asian Art Museum, done using wet thread and fine abrasive), but that is over-the-top!

Yes, simply amazing!
With not a single flaw, one has to wonder how many he had to carve to perfect this feat.
I mean, how many times did he near completion, only to scrap it and start anew with another nut because of a misstep?
Thousands of hours of work. And they call us advanced? Pffft...
