I imagine that the greatest entertainment show of all time will be at the last judgment, when we who believe will be in the audience, and each unbeliever tries to explain to Jesus why he didn't believe. We will hear some of the wildest and funniest stories ever told.

I was at some city council meetings several years ago, and heard some of the strangest statements I ever heard. They might be similar to the excuses God will hear:

- I am against one-way streets because I suffer from arteriosclerosis. (Huh?)

- The traffic improvements do not justify tearing down the monument.

- I am against one-way streets because they will put some bus drivers out of work.

- Can't you change the color the curb is painted for "no parking"? It clashes with the color of my house.

- We are against this project because trees will be cut down.

- I am against one-way streets because only half the cars would pass my business (forgot the cars added from the street made one-way the other way).

- I am against building this project because it will upset the harmonic balance of the earth. (Huh?)

- This zoning issue has as many thorns, brambles, and briars as the proposed site does.

- So we have an alleged road here. Where is it? It is a lot easier to draw lines on a map than it is to put asphalt on the ground.

- We want this traffic hazard to remain in place so we can continue to collect fines from violators there.
