God never gave me what I wanted, but always gave me what I needed.
I always thanked him, so as to be sure he knew I knew what he had done.

On a similar note.....  I look back on my life now and thank Him for the times His answer to my prayer was "no".  I have dodged some bullets.

I can't say I was ever told no, but then, I seldom asked for much. I was raised that asking was selfish, that I should always ask for others. So mostly my prayers were asking for corrections in the behavior of others.

Funny, I didn't realize that till this moment, but I remember the old Sunday school teacher telling me that, sternly.
No wonder I hated Sunday school

Yeah....   I finally learned not to blame God for Sunday school teachers, pastors, ministers, etc. No one can do more harm to Christianity than Christians.   

I just bypass the "middlemen" now and go straight to Him.

That is what I have done for years.  My "church" family is my family.  Bible study with me sisters and prayers across the miles.  So much to be thankful for.  Toy
