Gary North puts the controversy over evolution in the context of furthering the leftist cause in America during that era....what was it, around 1920?   
My take on it was that, in the 1920's,  the left flooded the nation with narcotics, booze, sexual debauchery, all under the same guise as it did again in the 1960's.  The behavior was shocking only in the context of traditional American Christian morality. The same behavior observed in the context of slave camp life in the South, even in the neighborhoods of the northern migration, or what would be considered the norm for African behavior, would not so much as even be noticed. Not to single out Africans. They are handy because they are so close as to be seen.  Sexually vile cultures are everywhere. Just look at the AIDS maps. To be brief, it is all a part of corrupting Judeo-Christian morality.
Creation, as an issue, came and went, served its purpose in the Scopes Monkey Trial, but at the core, the issue was white people wanting to get away with so much more than the rules allowed and rationalizing their behavior with whatever it took.  The current "creation" issues no longer concern the age of the rock. They concern homosexuality, adultery, pedophilia, incest, race mixing,
all those hot buttons.  When it gets right down to it, the left wing has made a deal with the devil and now act as his agents.

Yep. And all took place under the guise of Liberty and individual freedoms.
The left guilted the public into accepting reform, be it a fraction of an inch or less, it was still acceptable to the left, because they would ask for an inch the following year.
The term speak easy is a good example, keep it quiet and out of public view and we'll leave you alone, gays claimed they merely wanted to be left alone as well.
They sneak in under the pretext of civil liberties, generally in Libertarian minded communities, and San Franfreako is a perfect example of this.
Yeah, that's how it always starts out, but I guarantee you that pedophilia is next on the list.
