So, this is my pet peeve. More and more movies are trying to be "diverse" and have a woman or some minority as the main character. Moreover, white males tend to be depicted as either dumb or just the puppy who follows the powerful woman around.

They ruined Star Wars in the name of wokeness.

Another example is Game of Thrones. The author even admitted that he's a feminist.

OMG - the PC of the entertainment world is just ridiculous!  Yes, black people now get most of the leading roles.  Commercials are a joke!  I was watching a show the other night and all the criminals were young white guys and the cops and detectives were black.  hahahaha  ... Ya gotta have a black person WITH a white person ... Now there are more black people in a show than white ones.  Good profession for black people to go into now.  Im surprised they have not cancelled the good dr show - oops - a young white dr.

It's at the point now I can't stand to watch TV because of all the blatant in your face pandering to blacks, queers and wierdos. If I were black I'd actually be pissed off to be taken for such a simple minded fool.

Every TV show, every commercial has to not be just "diverse" but anti-white. Now they're coming out with a black Superman. One of my personal favs is in every movie set medieval Europe there are blacks everywhere lol!

My wife and I tried to watch Bridgerton and turned it off in disgust! It's too damn PC for us to waste our time watching. Even Chicago PD is getting too PC for me.

we got rid of our TV in 1988, the commercials were too insulting, not even funny, just insulting images, even after turning the sound down.

So. Korea has easily passed Hollywood in good movies - even if you need to read the subtitles, there's some good acting & drama... and martial arts stuff.

we download them, watch them later. 
I think it was "My Wife is a Gangster" got us started, there's a couple of sequels, also funny.
"Shaolin Soccer" - stupid funny, subtitles...

Just do a search for Korean Movies, if you don't mind reading, or dubbing, they're way better than anything from Hollywood.

The other search that's turned up some GREAT ... old movies, many B/W ... the old British movies, WW2 era.  Some really good acting, dialogue, patriotic, and intrigue - if you like espionage, with all the plot twists.

Sounds like we're not missing anything from TV...

I want to ADD something, maybe it sounds "out there" or "???".

We have a media server for the house, all the projectors are tied into it.  We can pull up any movie in seconds, and watch uninterrupted by commercials, pause when we get a phone call, or someone wants to pop some fresh    and boy, do we eat a LOT of popcorn here!     

We started DLing everything because our internet connection SUCKED with slowness.  I'm really GLAD we've been doing that for over 10 years, DLing right off of Youtube.  Some of those movies have >poof< vanished into bit-land... maybe they'll be posted again, maybe there was some copy write violation, or, maybe they're too PC-incorrect for Google who owns Youtube...?  When I see some "topic" I wish to check out, I DL as many as I can find.

If a colorized release shows up - I grab it.  A higher resolution 720 vs 480, I'll replace the lower rez version.  We started putting the (year) into the titles, and the server is well segmented, sometimes by actor, topic, events - like "Hitchcock" or "SPY-Espionage" or "Modern Marvels" or "World War 2".  Just easier to find what you're in the mood for.

If we buy a Bluray/DVD, we rip to an MP4 and put it on the server, the disk goes into storage, in case we need to rip it again.  Sometimes, we discover... opps, there's subtitles for a foreign language, we forgot to rip - just go back and do it again.  MP4 seems to work good for compression, keeping the files small & still giving good playback.


With PC all around us, and books like Dr. Suess being cancelled - I think these Patriotic, pro-America, WW2 flicks are being eyed with contempt by the likes of Google.  If they cannot EDIT them, it's just a matter of time.. they'll quietly vanish into Bit-land forever.

Same goes for BOOKS - We look at our library, massive by most households - book cases in every room of the house, yes, including the bathroom... Calvin & Hobbes or the Bathroom Reader.  Our library covers the classics, history, religious topics, encyclopedias (3 sets), craft books, animal husbandry, fix-it books, finance, family, education, farm & gardening.   When we look at them - it's really rare to find a book that's "dated" or "useless" material.   When the kids open one up, they're glued to it for an hour or more.

Really - seriously, there are some really good authors & movies in that old stuff, before CGI, before TV, before Radio, some really good writing ... and they're economy in the use of words - well, I suck at!

Not a movie, but the TV series "APB" deservedly went down in flames after one season. It was filled with obvious, stale, unimaginative appeals to the wokels.

I long ago stopped watching TV, ad have't bee to a movie in over a decade. I've started again with TV once some of the free movie channels run the old series.  One of My Fav's is Crime story set in the 60's with Dennis Farina, who was a real chicago cop.  Another is "brotherhood, set in Boston, shows a lot of dem corruption.

The old western's Natch......Paladin, the rifleman, High Chapperell, Johnny Yuma.

Want realism?  Get ahold of the seres called "the Wire"....Its Set in Baltimore..... knew ever character potrayed on that show, watch that series season 1 thru 6 and you'll understand why police Depts ACROSS THE COUNTRY are so fkd up run by idiots and thieves. The advisors are all ex cops, the told the brutal truth.
