This problem goes away in the theater, because of the larger room  giving more distance to the surround sound.  At home the only way to fix it is spread out the surround sound and have a really good sound system a turn it up enough to hear even whispering.
Therein lies my issue with being in a room with others, the whispering and distractions.
If I was by myself, that would be great, I just don't find enjoyment sitting with hundreds of people.
It's not that I don't like people, it's just that half of them suck.

Rarely have I liked crowded theaters,  although sometimes, depending on the movie, it was part of the experience.

That's how I am... if it's clean and the clientele isn't low rent, and there's a chance for a good movie, I'm in.  I think it's more of a nostalgic thing for me, with the experience.

Going to the movies is one of those things we grew up with in America, and I really don't want it to just be a victim of evolving digital content distribution.
