A young man who had never been to church before showed up at one, dressed as he always dressed, in beat up sneakers, ragged jeans, and a T-shirt. He was soon collared by the good Reverend who took him aside and asked him,

"Young man, is that how you dress to come to God's house? How do you think you should be dressed in God's house?"

The young man said "I don't know Reverend, this is just how I always dress, it's always seemed okay..."

"Well young man," said the Reverend severely, "I want you to go home and pray, asking God how you should dress to come to his house here!"

The young man duly departed, and returned the following Sunday, dressed exactly the same. Again the Reverend collared him.

"Young man didn't I tell you to ask the Lord how to dress here in his house?"

"Yes you did Reverend, and I did ask him."

"And what did the Lord say to you?"

"Well Reverend, he said he couldn't tell me because he'd never been here."
