The last time that happened enmasse, was when Newt literally gutted the DNC and several Dims jumped ship to join the Establishment.

Sure, that killed the DNC, but I remember writing how it left one party dead and packed with the worst society had to offer, a bunch of radical Marxists.
I asked what we could expect at the time, because it appeared that we had won but in truth what we wound up with was a GOP packed with Establishment types that further cemented the likes of Boehner, Ryan, and McCONnel.

Until we are rid of the rinos the left will "progressively" continue to move their agenda forward. The establishment GOP love when the left is in power, they can move the Elites (their handlers) legislative desires while not having to take responsibility. IMO
