The fact they're on the internet doesn't mean there's a low probability of being hacked.  These machines are wide open, hence why they were hacked and accessed remotely.

I would say the machines were not hacked.  As they had the password(s) to go in and make adjustments as needed for Joe to win.  Just being on-line makes the machines unsecure!  Their for under control of whoever log in with a password.

I earned my living with computers as well as did some consulting work in computers. There is absolutely NO reason to hook a voting machine up to the Internet unless one is planning on the machine being accessed. I would agree that there is no way that I would say, state, claim nor even think that there was an Internet connection for anything else except fraud, manipulation and/or changing votes remotely. As has already been proven in certain states, the machines were accessed "anonymously" which to me PROVES that there was remote manipulation!
