News articles are all over the place on it, nobody wants to admit to anything.
One didn't mention any, another said 5 Canal pilots, the most recent said 2 Canal pilots.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2021/03/29/suez-canal-pilots/
"A high-ranking canal pilot working for the Suez Canal Authority said the two pilots aboard the Ever Given were both senior chief pilots with 30-plus years of experience. "They had the experience and qualifications to guide this ship," he said.

The senior pilot said the job of navigating ships through canals had become more taxing in recent years. The vessels today are much larger and carry more cargo than those traversing the canal in the 1990s. Back then, he recalled, an oil tanker had blocked the canal and a single tugboat towed the vessel and cleared the waterway.

"The ships today are bigger than they used to be," the pilot said. "This is something new. We haven't seen this before."

Strong winds, he said, could have easily propelled the Ever Given toward the bank, leaving the canal blocked. "This is something that happens to massive ships of this kind," said the senior pilot, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment to the media. "They can run aground when winds exceed 30 or 40 knots."

Either someone's gonna be beaten till they fall on the sword, or they better prove there was a HUGE gust of wind to get them off the hook.

"He noted that canal pilots have guided the Ever Given through the canal before. "The ship has crossed the Suez Canal previous times but never under such weather conditions," he said."

-snip-

"Contrary to their titles, the pilots do not actually steer the vessel in the Suez Canal. The pilot serves more as a consultant, using his experience and practical knowledge of the canal to give advice, for instance on how to maneuver the vessel or what course to steer.

The captain has to be present at all times on the bridge and give the orders to the helm, to the engines and tugs, taking into account the pilot's directions, according to international maritime law. The captain has to keep the pilot informed of any problems with the handling of the vessel "so that the pilot might be in a position to give better advice to control the navigation and movement of the vessel," the law reads. Ultimately, "the responsibility falls completely" on the captain, it adds.

"The captain has the sole responsibility for directing the ship," the senior pilot said. "The pilots can offer their guidance and opinions, but the captain can choose to refuse it."

Among some seafarers, the role of the pilots can be somewhat mysterious."

Taiwanese sources say that Evergreen, the charterer of the Japanese-owned Ever Given which ran aground in the Suez Canal on 23 March, is seeking to separate the cargo interests from the vessel owning interests, following the impounding of the ship by an Ismailia court.

If Evergreen's move proves successful the cargo could be offloaded and delivered to consignees, according to the source.

An Evergreen statement read, "In accordance with information from UK P&I Club, the protection and indemnity insurer for the vessel [Ever Given], the shipowners received a claim from Suez Canal Authority ("SCA") for the sum of US$916 million on 7 April, 2021, to cover losses during Ever Given's grounding in the Suez Canal."

According to Evergreen the amount includes a US$300 million claim for a salvage bonus and a US$300 million claim for loss of reputation.

That's the beauty of it all. The NY Slimes learned long ago, that paying for the lies, was well, stupid, especially when they can save thousands by writing their own.

Now that we know what a SNAKE Mittens is ... should we *thank* Harry Reid for torpedoing his Presidential run with his, "I hear he doesn't pay his taxes" rumor?

Yep, Obozo was horrible, but every RINO that slips in, just does the bidding of the Marxists and we sit silently by, biding our time.
At least Joe has exposed the left for what they are.

A huge container ship that blocked the Suez Canal in March - disrupting global trade - is finally leaving the waterway after Egypt signed a compensation deal with its owners and insurers.

The Ever Given weighed anchor shortly after 11:30 local time (09:30 GMT) and headed north towards the Mediterranean escorted by tugs.

The ship has been impounded for three months near the canal city of Ismailia.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Egypt had demanded $550m (£397m).

As it got under way, Egyptian TV showed footage of the captain and a crew member being presented with flowers and a plaque on board the ship.
