Navy preps its new USS Ford carrier for massive ocean warfare

"On Nimitz-class carriers, if you have a bunch of aircraft on the deck edge, you have to bring fuel lines to those aircraft and the other aircraft cannot transit. It creates a lot of logistical problems," Rutan explained.

Ford-class carriers, however, as explained by Rutan, are built such that multiple planes can be rearmed, refueled and sent back to war --- much faster.

I'm afraid aircraft carriers are "fighting the last war."  They're too vulnerable to anti-ship missiles.

They've said that for decades, yet no nation on earth would even consider challenging us.
Read the article, they aren't sitting ducks.

I did, and it had little to say about defense.  For years we've heard about such as rail guns and lasers, but nothing much has come of it.  Wiki on Chinese anti-ship missiles:

China has inducted the world's first [1] operational anti-ship ballistic missile, a "carrier killer" capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads, known as the DF-21D.[2] In 2010, it was reported that China had entered the DF-21D into its early operational stage for deployment.[3]

The DF-26, first revealed on the 2015 Victory Day Parade, is also able to carry anti-ship warheads, possibly hypersonic glide vehicles like the WU-14, to attack medium and large naval vessels out to ranges of 3,500–5,000 kilometres (2,200–3,100 mi).[4]

China is apparently working on a second-generation ASBM using hypersonic maneuverable reentry vehicle technology tested on the WU-14. This would allow the warhead to search for the current location of the carrier, instead of just dropping towards the predicted spot it was initially aiming at. The high speed maneuvers would also make the missile much harder to intercept.[5]

It's hard to see how a carrier can ward off say a massive attack of ballistic ASMs arriving at 18,000 mph.  In the south china sea, the likely area of combat, the Chinese conversion of islands into military bases creates "unsinkable carriers".

Wiki is hardly a source for the truth, so it's been dismissed out of hand. What you don't know is what our enemies don't know. Those videos of UFO' are ours, we have tech yet to be released and won't be until we actually need it.
Your claim of a ballistic ASM would mean all out wart, and if that were the case we would level any source that even tried such an act, not just the plane that launched it, but the entire base it came from.
We are not at war, so such a scenario is pure speculation.

I don't understand you.  Of course weapons of war are used to fight wars.  Their use presupposes a war.

Up to and including the Korean War, the US had a long tradition of being unprepared for the sudden emergence of war.  Now, we DO understand the need to be prepared against likely enemies and their weapons systems.  I think there is a certain lag of perception about the carriers.  They've been effectively used in the 60 or 70 years after WW2 to project American power overseas.  But that was then and this is now.

Look at Iran, they were told in no uncertain terms to stay away from our Navy, they heeded the message and backed off. That is projection.
Be it a Navy ship, or an encampment in another, every soldier knows they are expendable, but they also know they're a deterrent.
When I was stationed on the Korean DMZ during Nam, we knew we had less than 3 minutes to find cover in the event NK attacked, but it is the bigger threat of recompense that kept us safe.

Same goes fr our ships, take one out, and feel the full wrath of the entire US military. So no, nothing has changed in all that time.

And you believe ChiCom propaganda because? If we learned anything about them, it's that they tell the truth about NOTHING.
