Bottom line, it all comes down to market demand. The market is demanding fuel efficiency, but why?
If you parallel fuel cost with with demand, you'll see it all started under Carter and his screwing up the oil market.
As fuel price increased, demand for efficiency increased. Fast forward to the turn of the century when the Marxist left claimed Co2 was a pollutant and started pushing up the cost of oil due to refining costs, the markets adjusted.

But what about today? The US is now the biggest oil producer/exporter in the world, the cost of oil has stabilized, in turn bringing price under control.
My guess is the industry will once again start pushing up speed as a factor in selling future aircraft.
The left is losing over their BS claim that man is warming the planet, and the world is fighting back.

Thinking about this, I wonder what the unknown cost of flying slow is. I wonder if it is better to fly faster.

Thoughts?
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

Frauditors are a waste of life.

All depends on the aircraft. Some planes can't while other designs require higher speeds to keep them aloft. Ramjet tech is one that requires max speeds for it to work.
Yes assuming we can keep govt out of it, speeds will continue to increase.

When? It still seems to take 8 to 9 hours to go from East Coast to mainland Europe or vice versa. They are more worried about more people being flown versus getting them flown faster. Prices go up, seat size goes down, and services goes away.

Also, what about the health, psychological, and mental issues of being trapped for hours and hours in a tube, cramped in a sitting position with people you don't know or trust, breathing the same air, after being overcharged while getting no service or perks, and getting shaken down by TSA.

All of which mkt forces will rectify. Right now we're suffering govt abuse under the guise of global warming, but all that is changing and the mkt will dictate the Right correction.
