This video of his, as well as others make a convincing argument that the National Socialists werent a right wing capitalist party but a left wing socialist one. Also, watch especially starting at 27:30 and you get a classic explanation of the failure of socialism. The whole video is excellent.

A brief comment as the Germans were trying to recapture their heritage/legacy
which had emerged in the half century from the Franco Prussian War till 1914.
Sadly they believed that Adolf Hitler was the one to achieve this.
A lengthy reflection/perspective on this to follow shortly.
Consider, France emerged a unified nation/state in 500 AD, ruled by the Frankish leader,
Clovis, becoming Europe's continental leader and world power over the next 1,370 years;
going wherever and whenever they pleased;
Adjacent to France were a group of Principalities as well as the Duchy of Prussia, the latter having defeated the Austrian Empire in 1866.
This conflict unnerved the French who declared War on Prussia in 1870, a fateful decision that fundamentally changed the power structure of Europe and the world.
The 'Germans" had remained passive and subdued in the face of French arrogance and conceit since Clovis but not this time as they were then led by Otto Von Bismarck and
Field Marshall Helmut Von Moltke of Prussia.
Consider these two facts about the Franco-Prussian War:
* the conflict persisted for a mere 190 days.
* France sustained 1 million casualties while Germany sustained 144 thousand;
a ratio of 7 to 1.
Consequently, the center of power in Europe shifted dramatically and with finality.
These individuals remained major leaders in the unified Germany, birthed by the War.
Unfortunately, Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm, a temperamental narcissist of low intelligence,
could/would not tolerate either individual, dismissing both and making their genius unavailable during the years prior to the Great War.; a major tragedy for which
the German people paid a fateful price, as they lost a War they were capable of winning.
Back to the core question; why did the German people vote for Adolph Hitler???
Fundamentally because they perceived him a leader who had experienced the Great war, being wounded, and someone would never make the colossal errors of judgement that Emperor Wilhelm did in dismissing genius during a period of great stress.
All good points.
