Title: Resistance Library Podcast: The History of Charlton Heston
Post by: ammodotcom on October 14, 2021, 11:09:58 AM

On this episode of the Resistance Library Podcast, Sam and Dave discuss Charlton Heston. Charlton Heston is a singular figure in American history and consciousness. During the early period of his acting career, he was known for historical and Biblical epics.

After his career waned throughout the 1960s, he was reborn as a science fiction actor, thanks to his starring role in Planet of the Apes. While often viewed as a bit of camp today, this film and the series that spawned it was the biggest popular science fiction movie franchise in the pre-Star Wars era.

For our purposes, however, Charlton Heston is an unsung hero because he was a champion of limited government, especially as it pertains to Second Amendment rights. He served as president of the National Rifle Association for five terms, only retiring when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2002. Starting his involvement in politics in the Civil Rights era, he later gravitated toward conservatism, organizing a political action committee to support Ronald Reagan.

Always admired the guy, a true Patriot.
However, if not for the NRA opening up the 2nd for govt destruction via SCOTUS, we wouldn't have any laws dictating what arms we can own.

Guns of America, nuff said!

The main thing people have to take away from the NRA's shortcomings and downfall is that there are dozens of worthy pro-2A organizations in this country. Even founding a local gun club is a move in the right direction. The NRA cannot be mistaken for a monopoly that speaks for the monolith of gun owners. Too fiercely individualistic a lot to ever have any of that.

The NRA to the Second, is akin to water and oil. The Second speaks for itself, while the NRA gives the impression they support our Bill of Rights while helping the left whittle away at it slowly.

Don't deceive yourself, we'd be a lot better off if they never existed in the first place.
