Title: Preventive care: It's free, except when it's not
Post by: walkstall on December 28, 2011, 08:32:40 AM
Sounds more like a Scam, o b care at it's finest.
When you get around 50 all Doc. tell you, you need a colonoscopy test done about every 10 years or less.

CHICAGO — Bill Dunphy thought his colonoscopy would be free.

His insurance company told him it would be covered 100 percent, with no copayment from him and no charge against his deductible. The nation's 1-year-old health law requires most insurance plans to cover all costs for preventive care including colon cancer screening. So Dunphy had the procedure in April.

Then the bill arrived: $1,100.

The 1,100 was for the removal of polyps. If they had left them in and they devloped into canver then the cost would have been far higher. I really don't have a problem with this.

Also, no procedure is free. It's just a matter of shifting their cost burden to the rest of us. That's what coverage mandates do.
