A Goochland County man suffered a severe reaction after getting his COVID-19 vaccine and VCU doctors believe it was a direct result of the shot.

Richard Terrell got the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine earlier this month. He suffered a severe rash that spread over his entire body and turned his skin red. The 74-year-old was admitted to the hospital and spent five days at the VCU Medical Center.

Terrell was released from the hospital and is now sharing his vaccination story as he recovers from the comfort of his Goochland home. He tells 8News that he's still very weak and that it will take some time for him to fully recover, but he's thankful to have received his dose.

"It all just happened so fast. My skin peeled off," Terrell said as he looked down. "It's still coming off on my hands now."

On March 6, Terrell received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Ashland. He shares that everything went perfectly fine, however four days later he started experiencing symptoms.

I hope so also but, contacting an attorney is useless. The attorney will take whatever monies he has while the government, the drug company and the doctor are immune from accountability. He is on his own.

He's just up the road, 2hrs from me.  ... healthcare in Virginia is not-so-hot.  You get passed around, one referral after another (each Doctor gets a cut $$ for the referral), before getting to the person you really needed to see.   I sure hopes he recovers quickly, without any lasting damage - but, I'd see an Oncologist asap.   If it's anything related to Lymphoma - it'll show up in the blood work.

Its nit just Virginia. The entire healthcare industry in this country has gone straight to hell. They are either milking an insurance cow or the big medicare ciw.
The one and only way to fix it is to first make selling healthcare insurance illegal for the fraud it is and get the government to hell out of the healthcare business altogether. That way prices would come crashing back to earth and doctors would once again give a shit about their patients because they'd either have to or starve. It used to be exactly that way in this country not so long ago and things worked one hell of a lot better then than they do today.

My wife had stage 4 Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma several years ago. It wasn't fun.

Yikes that is some rash.  Only one family member so far has gotten the J&J vaccine with no issues.  Be extra careful if you have allergies. My wife has allergies but was fine with the Pfizer vaccine. See link for more info.

Drilling into your hip for a bone marrow sample ... is a certain pain, like none other.  And that area remained quite "sensitive" for a month afterwards. 

My brother was falsely diagnosed with Non-Hodgins Lymphoma - turned out he had Toxoplasmosis (sp), or "Cat Scratch Fever".  He almost died at the cancer clinic, till they treated him with a cheap Sulfa Drug - was up walking around 36hrs later, still weakened from 3 months of being bed ridden & those powerful chemo drugs.   He was given 5 years, the time from when his body would release what had been "encapsulated" ...  was warned when it started to happen, he would "go fast".   He went from healthy looking to dead in less than 2 weeks.

Sorry to hear about your wife, these blood diseases are really, really tricky things - hard to really nail down & treat without killing the patient.   All the money in the world, can't buy good health, but, they sure like to pretend like it'll take all the money you got to try!

I will NOT vaccinate - IMO, anyone with a compromised immune system, or 'other than normal' immune system, is like pouring gasoline onto a lit match.  It's easy to handle, until something really powerful explosive is added.
