Quote from: Possum on January 01, 2022, 04:18:47 AMI have always been of the opinion that life is what you make it. Everything you need and more is right at your finger tips. Want the true meaning of life, the bible is right there. Want a better paying job, the education you need is right there. Tired of the liberal B.S., there are still conservative places to live. Here's one little secret I try to pass along, want to see things better, GET INVOLVED. Sitting on your butt will lead to being a pessimist. People who do nothing hang around other people who do nothing, people who do nothing, bitch. They bitch about everything and blame everyone else for their problems. It's easier to bitch that your job does not pay enough rather than improving your job skills or your education. That old saying about birds of a feather is true, a pessimist can not hang around optimists, they have to hang around other pessimists in order to feel they have value. When all their problems can be blamed on someone else, (and that is my definition of a pessimist) then they have no reason to improve their situation.

Just a rant, pay no attention.
I agree, life is what you make of it.
What we're all seeing right now is a Marxist left trying to make life as miserable as possible for as many as possible in hopes of getting them to accept a planned communist takeover.
Problem is, the left miscalculated the will of the American people, our drive for a better life, our undying optimism that things will always get better, no matter what they try.

I as well as millions of others will never give up and the left knows that, and that has them shitting rocks for the New Year.

I guess there are those who only see doom and gloom, and let them, and when it's all said and done, I'll be more than willing to rub it in their faces.
Remember the likes of Andy Jackson and others of his ilk? I'll be reinstating their memberships when we take back the country.
Never knew if they were paid trolls or not, but pessimists have no place on this forum. I'm going to be the biggest "I TOLD YA SO" in the world.

True! It's one thing to have a negative outlook, but when ones attitude feeds the Marxist movement, they lose their Right to spew their hate on this forum.

God has a plan - we might not always understand the plan but there is one.

As a Christian your faith in God and the knowledge that life here on earth is only temporary should pretty much make you an optimist. Toy

That is the most important fact of life. Not only does God have a plan, he has a plan for each of us. His plan starts and ends with his love for us.

Knowing that has been my saving grace through the hard times.

Your eyes have seen my formless substance; And in Your book were written All the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. Psalm 139:16

I didn't mean to participate in hijacking Toy's post, but... shit happens sometimes.

I do wonder, though, how anybody in California can maintain a level of optimism toward the state.

As for the state of California, I've lived 57 pretty darn good years here.  And things can change once we can get rid of Newsom and Pelosi and hopefully get a Ronald Reagan type in command.  The CA sun has kept me saner.

I continue to look at the Glass as Half Full, vs Half Empty.

i'm tired of labels.  I'm a human being with different outlooks on so  many issues.  My mom was a devout catholic christian I guess you can call it that, and she was so much a pessimist.  She had no other way being born in the Great Depression.  I had to work my own life to get out of the negativity of it all.

I attended enough scientific forums at Cal Tech in Pasadena to start to really think on this god thing.

As one dear friend who was very wise and taught me a lot and she was Jewish for whatever that is worth, I was grown up "hating Jews".... later in life I had quite a few wise jewish people who I learned so much from.  My dear old friend would say to me before she died, no one ever came back to tell me whether there is a god or heaven or or or.

It's all here and treating others as you would want to be treated is what counts.  And the 10 Commandments, good great rules to get thru like with.   j

I hope you got far enough at Cal Tech to encounter the Really Big Question that occupies the minds of many astrophysicists these days. So deep in their belief in the Big Bang theory, they find themselves asking.... who/what set it off? Wouldn't it be something like God who struck the match and lit that fuse?
