Title: Archetypal Rest Postures
Post by: Solars Toy on August 05, 2021, 05:54:19 AM
Modern humans spend all their time in one of three positions: sitting (in chairs, on the couch, while driving), standing, or lying flat. No wonder we're so creaky, achy, and misaligned. The human body is meant to move through a wide range of positions every day.

So much truth to this especially for those who work/commute.  Before retiring I spent 2 hours commuting, a desk job, and so many meetings. (driving to and sitting through)  A large part of my day was spent sitting.

Fortunately my last few years my employer, with a lot of nudging and doctors note, provided me with a sit stand desk and I had a fantastic walking buddy at work.  But stretching these muscles like this was not in my daily routine.  Now that I am retired I do move more but often find myself at my computer typing away.  Maybe it is time to start stretching in a more positive way.

The old saying "use it or lose it" is so true.  As I have told  Solar at my age I am starting to slow down.  Even I can feel it this year.

Being a gymnast in my youth I was able to contort my body in a lot of weird positions.  Those days are gone.  I found I can do most of these but definitely feel the stretch and can't hold them for long.
