Sick Of Silence

Quote from: Solar on December 29, 2024, 01:26:11 PMOn a side note, the 25 yro next door was so proud when he got his first credit card, of course I warned him of all the dangers, percentages, drawing cash, etc.
Within 3 months, it was maxed out, but he was relieved when they said he could double his limit at 21% interest rate, yeah, he took it and maxed it out again.
But he said he makes payments every month.

On a side note, my parent's neighbor's son is equally as naive when it comes to life and finances.

I don't know the complete story, but I know the important stuff. He has an actual real job (works at night) and still lives at home. Dad works in the day, and they don't have to see each other too much. He is basically spoiled and doesn't pay anything to live at home. When I had to live back home one time, I had to pay something to deal with the utilities and food. I had to pay something, and it wasn't a large amount. It was the principle. He also brings home take-out only for himself, and never asks if dad wants anything. I don't believe he does any type of household work.

The mother who doesn't live with them, ain't no good. She filled the kid with bad attitude and bad ideas when it comes to the situation. The dad just wanted to kid to clean up after himself (his room). I believe the dad ignores all the other crap, he just wants a little effort.

Well, the son decided he wants to move out. He is going to learn the harsh realities of living in an apartment. Sleeping during the day? Good luck with that.

1. I know from experience that the management will barge in during the mourning to do apartment inspections, necessary repairs, or whatever.
2. The person/people who live above you will stomp around like elephants, kids run up and down the hallway, and slam down the floor.
3. Lawn care mowing, air blowing sidewalks, or construction noise like roof tile replacement/ carpet replacement.
4. People playing their stereos loud. I had one who cranked up the stereo in the back bedroom while they sat in the living room. Complain? Good luck getting anywhere. After people leave, you have a new people move in and do the same thing.
5. The rent goes up every year. I tried 15 month leases to save a few bucks, but that's if you can get it.
6. You have to pay for utilities. With the obvious electricity you have to get, I know I had to pay a set amount for water through the apartment. Want cable/internet? Gotta get that to (and be stuck with whatever company has monopoly in that location (Comcast. Cox, Spectrum, etc).
7. First come/first serve parking. Come home late at night, and you are not anywhere near where you need to be (and that is a place that had an actual parking lot, and not street parking).

I wish I could be back home. My parents are old and need help; and I can save a ton of money.

That boy's an idiot, and that mom is to blame.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street I'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.
This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.
How come nobody was interested in educating people about these rights until online videos got monetization?

Seems like a lifetime ago I did the apartment thing. :puke  Though I have to admit, a lot of fun times happened during those formative years.

I blame the parents of Boomers for buying into the idea of women's rights and folding to what the media told them.
That was the beginning of the familial collapse.

If a man spoke up, he was labeled a bigot, the day of burning bras. Lucky for me, my area wasn't caught up in city shit, we were rural suburban, and TV reception sucked.
But the kids I grew up with still bought into the entire idea that times had changed and we were suddenly supposed to toss a millennial of culture aside and try the new Marxist lite feminazi drink.

In other words, Boomers kids never had a chance because boomers had lost the tools for what it meant to be a man and how to raise kids, especially young men.
I can't blame the kid so much because he never learned responsibility, same with the kid next door to me, his mom is a total loser.
Knocked up as a spoiled teen by an alcoholic, then married a convict who spent more than a decade of the kids' informative years in prison.

They're doing the best they can, but not a one of them ever received the tools for life.
Can you imagine going through life without common sense?

Today, I went into the corner gas station store like I always do. Since the sodas are usually two for $4, I get two. A young person who I opened the cooler door for while I was pondering what to get, he got his single soda.

He will pay more per ounce for his single bottle than for my two bottles. Might not be much, but I spent less than him.

It's important to calculate price per ounce to see what is the better deal.

You pay even less online or at an outlet. Now who's the fool paying too much?
Personally, I don't drink those expensive poisons.

You do understand the point right? Shopping for the best deal given the situation. We all understand that the "convenience" costs little extra. Something ready to buy, without waiting in a long line, already chilled. Don't have time to go into a grocery store for a single item. To busy for that at work. Time is important for me. And, I have seen grocery stores sell it for the same price un-chilled. Same goes for sports drinks, flavored water, juice, and the like.

Might be only a dollar or so, but that's a dollar you didn't have to spend for that situation. I am better off than that kid. He has one drink. I have one drink now, and one drink for later.

I got the point. But then, I've never wasted money on chemical flavored sugar water.
If you were to run a tally of the money spent on toxic fast food, you could have paid cash for a new car.
Seriously, but this is me. I lived my life like I was perpetually broke, I lied to myself that I had no savings and that my account was off limits until a day to be decided.
that's why I was able to retire in my early 40s.

Hey, but good on you, you recognized a perceived bargain.
