Corporations go woke

It really troubles me how the wind has shifted directions and is blowing toward the left nowadays. Remember when 'big business' was always conservative Republican? We always reduce taxes and regulations, but now these corporations are selling out America and no longer appreciating everything that we do for them.

Remember when it was taboo to mix business with politics publicly?

Now it has it become popular to 'go woke' and make a stand for that crap. What has happened in the past couple of years for corporations to go against conservative ideals?

was talking to a Comcast tech yesterday.

They didn't get the raises they hoped for... or bonuses for working during the pandemic.

BLM got $100 in cash and services instead.  ($75m in case, $25m in cable services).

Guess *who* is ultimately paying for it?

That's simply because American business has largely been overtaken and polluted with MBA assholes fresh out of brainwashing programs in today's universities and colleges. Trouble is they know fuck all about how to build or run a real business.

Actually, this all started under Clinton. Right after he signed NAFTA, our death sentence.

I disagree, it's not the MBAs, it's coming from the HR departments.  People who don't care about making money, just PC statements.  We got one doosey, she sent out an email, company wide, something like, "Now it the time to stand up and be heard for George Floyd."   Our company is struggling financially, this lady ought to be fired for making such an outrageous statement.

Here's a clue. HR departments have diddly squat to do with hiring CEOs and corporate muckey mucks. That's all networking BS. HR is for only hiring peons and organizing the company picnic.

They are all guilty. CEO, HR, law department, everybody.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

MY daughter makes well over 100 thousand dollar a year as a HR person.  She did not hire the CEO, The CEO hire her.  But I will say she does not live in California.  I am from what we call planet Earth, 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Nope, not any more!   The HR department hands down policy, publishes company positions, shapes the public image of the company, and has quite a say in who gets hired and fired.

Ask her if she does the background checks on who is allowed to be hired.
In our company, the HR department is the gatekeeper, and they wield that power like a hangin' judge.

I see now why you overestimate the role HR people play in the overall cooroporate structure. Trust me it's not as critical as you seem to think.
BTW when I hired people all I used HR for was to place newspaper ads and such. I insisted that I do my own hiring and my own firing.

Power of HR departments varies by company. Top leadership determines the power level. In the company I worked for for over forty years I found HR desiring more influence than they actually had. I remember one of my bosses referring to HR as the Crisis Creation Department. It seemed they needed a crisis to be relevant.

nailed it!   in the company I work for (not MY company), HR is continually pushing out stuff, few people read.  For awhile it was "the new culture or -blank-" sure, like I'm gonna wash my brain and somehow insert all kinds of new attitudes - what do I get rid of first, "delivering great customer service"?   That'd look real good on my review!

We got an email years back, the head of HR wanted everyone to meet online or in person at the Colorado main office (in the conference room)... Of course we're ALL busy!  So, hardly anyone shows up.
She is LIVID!!!  She pens a nasty email, threatening termination if you fail to show up, without a valid excuse, and reschedules the meeting.  Whether or not she actually had that authority, who knows, but that conference hall was filled the next time.... she probably rode in on a broom.
