QuoteWhat are the advantages and/or disadvantages of a for profit versus a not for profit school? Is one kind of school better than the other?

From what I read (even with other articles), they should not be solely about profit. Obviously, you need to charge enough to operate. But, getting a real educational degree is about a greater good. You have that degree in law, business, medical/nursing, engineering/technology, etc. that improves life. We need doctors, not "transgender midget studies" majors.

One random average shown was $26K non-profit versus $31K profit, but should those that high? All educational entities should be tax-exempt, and the philanthropy-ing alumni can donate $1M to build a new building and have it named after themselves.

And that is just the ability to attend college. The other expenses is another problem.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

In my view there is a fine line on this issue. I would not support fully "for profit" schools, but am totally opposed to government schools. I sent my kids to a private school whose mission was to provide a quality education. It did not want a profit, but it required funding that not only paid the bills but built a reserve for future necessary requirements.

Back in the day when I was married and a father .... we started our daughter in the public school system. Around second or third grade they decided to identify her as ADD. The school would not test, nor pay for any advanced testing of her but continued to insist their point.

The wife and I did go beyond the school system, we paid for her to be examined and tested.  What we found out blew us away, at that tender age 8 or 9, our daughter already had a comprehension capabilty of a 25 year old woman. Our daughter wasn't ADD, she was bored to tears in public school.

We yanked her and home schooled her.  She's 38 this year and doing great.

Good For You!
My school made the same claim decades back. I was bored to tears was the only issue. All could have been solved if I'd had good teachers.

We found out later that the school system was trying to hook more federal money.  The more students they could claim as "disabled"/"disadvantaged"/"ADD" they would guarantee funding from the fed up to like 10k per child.

We yanked that funding from them.

IMHO, everyone I've ever known who wore that ADD/ADHD label was actually just really smart.

What a huge stinking pile of pHARMa greed that was, allowing school faculty to "diagnose" ADD/ADHD.

It was just one more unconstitutional move to hold money hostage over the heads of independent States looking for easy revenue.

Thank you my friend.

Of course part of the issue now is .... indoctrination, if the child is smarter than the teachers, (as in the case of my daughter,) they cannot force feed them the hyprocracy bullshit that they feed the children with now.  They are not there to teach education they are there to brainwash.

My late husband was an educator, late in the 70's, and was a beloved teacher.  He lost his mind to pHARMaceutically induced dementia just as it was becoming evident that the most heinous indoctrination was starting to occur, and I thank God he never really had to see the abuse children are being subjected to in just the past couple of years.  His heart would break.

I was more looking at colleges/universtities:
The way they treat housing. They cram you into a room with a stranger, force you to keep moving in and out after every semester instead having year round education, and charge an arm and a leg for it. It is a hassle them telling you that you have to move in or mover out on a certain day or time.

My nephew goes to college. My brother has to fly at least twice a year from oversees, grab the boy's crap in and out of the dorms, and store it for a few months.
