Billionaire DOGE head Elon Musk said on X, formerly known as Twitter, he would ask President Donald Trump about a proposal for a "DOGE Dividend" that would give taxpayers a refund check of $5,000 funded by the savings from his Department of Government Efficiency. (UPDATE: Trump said Wednesday the plan is "under consideration.")

James Fishback, CEO of investment firm Azoria and reportedly an outside adviser to DOGE, pitched the idea of "a tax refund check to be sent after the expiration of DOGE in July 2026 funded exclusively with a portion of the total savings delivered by DOGE" on social media on Friday, and continued posting about it Tuesday, tagging Musk in a tweet about the proposal.

The proposal calls for 20% of DOGE's targeted $2 trillion in savings to be returned to "the ~79 million tax-paying households," which Fishback said would result in about a $5,000 return per household.

Musk responded to Fishback's proposal, saying he "will check with the president."

Not enough. It needs to be much higher. The money that was taken to me, the interest, and restitution.

I don't expect an apology, nor an explanation. It doesn't pay the bills. I need to be paid back.

I'm not knocking it, for some it could really make a huge difference but for me and many retirees it wouldn't mean a lot.
Y+I want them to get into the trillions, I'd like to see one hundred grand for every American citizen who got screwed.

I would like to see a balanced budget first. How about use this money saved to pay off the debt, I think we owe that much to the next generation.

I agree. This sounds like a democrat vote solicitation scheme.

I would like to see this money FIRST go to Senior citizens who have been paying taxes on their Social security since they started drawing it. Its really double taxation coz it was taxed from a payroll when it was earned and taxed again when the recipient reached SS eligibility age. 

But $5000 Stimulus checks would hot shot the economy.

No more for illegal aliens as Trump just signed the EXO on it.

I agree, we need a balanced budget a whole lot worse than a one time windfall...
